March 23, 201511 yr They don't happen often, and for good reason, as they can fundamentally change the way the game is played. If you read my earlier post, I said I'm not sure that I like this proposed change. What I do like is the NFL taking a look at the game and being willing to talk about making changes and evolving. That's all. Just because we've always done something one way, doesn't mean it's the right way or best way. Sports teams, businesses and even people need to be willing and open to occasionally taking a look at that themselves and seeing how they can improve. Change is not always good. In fact, this change imo would be terrible.

The extra point is the equivalent of a 10" putt in golf. It adds no excitement or lure of drama to a game. The NFL realizes this and is trying to come up with a way to make kickers earn their pay check. I like the idea of making it a 35 yard attempt, or go for 2.
