8th Region Draw

Featured Replies

What time is this set for today?

2pm at Henry Co

Champions: Oldham Co, Collins, Owen Co, Grant Co

Runners Up: North Oldham, Shelby Co, Gallatin Co, Simon Kenton

Give the trophy to Oldham and be done with it.

WOW! I bet no one thought Cov Cath would have won state last year. I believe Ballard was the favorite all season and didn't make it out of their region.

Good luck to ALL 8 teams.

Should be a great tournament. At least two of the quarterfinal games will be close to pick-ems (three if Oldham-Gallatin draw each other to open things). After Oldham, there isn't a big difference between two thru seven.

They are the favorite, but not that heavy of a favorite.

HEAVY favorite!!!

Ask Trimble and North how good they are playing

Grant-Shelby

Oldham-Gallatin

Owen-North Oldham

Collins-SK

Who said they weren't playing well?

Grant-Shelby

Oldham-Gallatin

Owen-North Oldham

Collins-SK

Nice balanced draw. 3 of the 4 first round games will be good ones. This year's 8th Region tournament will be exciting as always!

For two or three years now Collins has been on fire heading into the regional tournament and considered one of the favorite but hasn't been able to bring home the title. Oldham is the favorite, but they are far from guaranteed to win it.

Who plays which days?

Grant-Shelby at 6 on Wed

Oldham-Gallatin at 7:30 on Wed

Owen-North at 6 on Thurs

Collins-SK at 7:30 on Thurs

No guarantees ever come region tournament time. There is absolutely no doubt that Oldham has to be the favorite - and a heavy one - but has already been pointed out, Collins was last year's favorite and lost out in the semis. Oldham was arguably the favorite the year before that and lost in the finals.

It's a one and done and anyone can have an off night.

Still - considering the body of work so far - Oldham is the favorite.

It would be really interesting if Oldham and Owen were to play in the finals....we were cheated out of the "All-'O'" game on 2/20/15 that was scheduled between those two to end the season. Snow. Yuk.

WELCOME BACK, North Oldham, after a three-year absence. The Mustangs can score, score, score and Jonathan Henry can be a treat to watch.

UNUSUAL: Only one of the three region "Deans of Coaches" will be in attendance. Glen Drury of Anderson County (longest-tenured coach in 8th region) and Steve Simpson of South Oldham (third longest-tenured) are on the sidelines.....only Jon Jones of Gallatin County (second-longest tenure) will be in New Castle.

ON PAPER, the bottom bracket has the better first round games. North Oldham lost to Owen County by only three, with one starter playing while somewhat under the weather and their 6'5" center out. Collins beat SK by just seven. Could be two really tight re-matches. Of course, games aren't played on paper....LOL

It's always a fun tournament....remember last year??? It will be hard to match the drama of last year's tournament - including the overtime games - but I think this one will be fun.
