Something I don't understand: why do you have the ball leaving Rose's hands down one after you've just called a TO?

 

Admittedly, I'm not a coach and don't know the game nearly as well as anyone who is, but I think you put it in Rode's hand, have him dribble twice five feet inside of the half court line, hand off to an 8th grader who drives it and dumps to a kid who hasn't started a ton of games for you on the block to go up for 2 against Jenkins, all while Rose stands on the opposite side behind the three point line.

 

I'm not whatever about questioning coaches, and admitted such above, but if that's what was drawn up, but what-the-what? Could someone explain it to me if I'm missing something?

Like I said earlier, King hits that shot 99/100 times.

Well, one thing we can agree one: it surprised alotta people. I just don't see why they try to use King when Jenkins is in there to challenge him.

 

Jenkins isn't going to step out on Rose, or you would probably love it if you did if you are an LCA fan. With what little time they had, it would have taken a lot to happen for Rose to get a clean look on a reversal from where he was, especially once Rode got deeper in his penetration.

 

I'd have went with Rose or died, and the only way I think about doing something different is if they've just got Lucky all over him and he's been giving him trouble most of the night. Then, I might put it in Rose hand's and let him give a dribble handoff to someone or run him off the ball and try to pick Lucky off, but otherwise, I'll ride the horse that got me there and live and die taking my chances with Rose not wanting to end his career right there.

First game I had been too since December & it was high intensity atmosphere for sure. After the game many fans stood in disbelief @ the outcome.

 

There was a definite feel in the gym of this being the year for LCA & in the end, Lafayette withstood a huge jump out by LCA in the 1st quarter & several spectacular plays to keep it close @ the half & take control of the game in the 3rd quarter & hold them down in the 4th.

 

LCA came out really flat from halftime & had trouble getting stability until it was too late.

Agreed. Especially coming from a private school that's one of the tops in the area.

 

You have way, way, way more discretion on keeping your kids outta that stuff at games and it was kinda surprising that, if the admin knew what it meant, that they'd let it go.

I have been to several school games private and public and you should see and hear some of the chants that the student section. How about parents? I have seen and hear parent's loose their mind at ballgames too. Just trying to understand what you meant by that statement.

Wonder how many of LCA's "hard" kids are gonna try to find Lucky or see him out somewhere and tell him what they were chanting at him face-to-face?

And second off what about the punk from Lafayette's side who ran over to the Lca bench and got in the players faces after the game. How would you feel if you just played your last game in high school and someone is getting up on your face taunting you?

I've been to public and I've been to private schools. Just left a private Catholic school. Loved some things about each. Hated some things about each.

 

What I was trying to say there is when a teacher at a public school disciplines a kid for something he said that was inappropriate but not criminal at an off-campus event, then things can get dicey. Get some parents involved, things like that and it might get messy. Public schools have more to worry about when it comes to the CYA aspect of regulating behavior. See a kid in your student section wearing a swastika and you can't go tell him to remove it if you are a public school teacher.

 

When a teacher at a private school sees a kid do the same thing, he or she can say, "you're getting wrote up for that tomorrow, we're not a public school and can kick you out if we want to". I'm sure there are plenty of kids who'd love to get into a school like LCA, so when one kid messes up enough when it comes to representing the school and behavior (well, at least in my private school experience unless it's a kid whose people make alotta donations and they can get away with anything), then the teacher can bring it up and you can address it the next day.

 

Just kind of an apples and oranges comparison to tell one kid, "uhhh.... we may give you detention tomorrow" and another being able to tell a kid, "we don't take public funds, so we can tell you what you WILL do if you want to keep going to school here, even though we aren't at school now".

Here is the bottom line Joker, I too am a product a private school system GLC Cincy. And WE all know here in Lexington, that the public school has and ALWAYS have animosity/ dislike to the private school system. I get that and it will never change. Student body and parents on both side will always have that dislike to each other. Just like RoRob mentioned we all saw what happen after the game when that Lafayette student taunted the LCA, but nothing was said or mentioned on this post. I can remember one season when Creek beat Lex Catholic in the district finals, Creek student section rushed the court bombarded and bumped several Knight's players, but again nothing was mentioned or said on any post. So now some handful of idiot LCA might have chanted something to a player and private schools are targeted as not being CHRISTIAN like as I heard one Lafayette supporter. Or " Daddy's money " chant, or spoiled, stuck up kids which WE ALL hear and heard in the past. Oh by the way good luck to Lafayette and Lex catholic tonight.

I think the whole private vs public school is not the issue in this instance. Look, all the kids in the Lexington area and even surrounding areas know each other. They all play together in the summer. They see each other at the YMCA or some of the local neighborhood courts. A lot of LCA students attend Southland Christian church as do many students at Dunbar, Lafayette, and Tates Creek. They are all dating each other and going to the same parties and hangouts. Any comments made by student sections directed toward the opposition is just competitive rivalry. I'm pretty sure none of the students take it as anything other than that. You should see some of the tweets that get sent after the games. I'm pretty sure that if any of the kids were offended that they wouldn't be following the same people in social media.

I believe we were talking about a hypothetical where someone could sue a school for asking kids to remove swastikas. If you want to know why they could sue, ummm.... Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District??? Just because you don't agree with it (and I don't) doesn't mean a public school can go regulate something like a private school can. Only point I was trying to make.

 

Finally, you want to know what was said? Dude, get real. I don't have to tell you what was said and don't know why it's an issue or why you think you have some right to know. You said you were there, so you probably know anyway. Besides, it'd be in poor taste if I did say it and don't know why it's an issue. LCA is the one who should be embarrassed, no one else. Now it's just a dead horse to bring up a week later, ironically a night before Lafayette plays in their regional opener. Why not just drop it, well... unless there's an agenda...
