Carson Williams did not win KABC 8th Region Player of the Year.

Hayden Hawes of Oldham County did.

Just to clarify, like I seem to do every year at this time, to be eligible to win KABC Regional Player of the Year you must meet the following criteria.

1. Be a Senior

2. At least one of your coaches, head or assistant, must be a member of the KABC.

Here are this years winners.

Region 1 - Parker Adams - Calloway County

Region 2 - David Simmons - Henderson County

Region 3 - Aric Holman - Owensboro

Region 4 - Dillon Geralds - Monroe County

Region 5 - Eljay Cowherd - Bardstown

Region 6 - Dujuanta Weaver - Doss

Region 7 - Dwayne Sutton - Manual

Raymond Spaulding - Trinity

Jalen Perry - Ballard

Region 8 - Hayden Hawes - Oldham County

Region 9 - James Bolden - Holmes

Drew McDonald - Newport Central Catholic

Region 10 - Dorian Henry - Mason County

Region 11 - Matt Rose - Lexington Christian Academy

Region 12 - Hagen Tyler - Boyle County

Region 13 - Skyler Griffith - Williamsburg

Region 14 - Cameron Justice - Knott County Central

Region 15 - Kyle Gullett - Johnson Central

Region 16 - Ryne Callahan - Rowan County

Once again this is a senior award. Congrats to all winners who are deserving. All KABC Players of the Year and Runner Up Players of the Year are invited to play in the KABC East/West All Star Game which takes place the weekend of the state tournament at Transy.

Carson Williams won the 8th region player of the year on the vote all the Head Coaches in the 8th region conduct. Most regions, but not all, also conduct there own form of all region team. Usually you are asked to pick 10-12 players of any grade level to place on an all region team. Based on where you are placed on this list equals how many points you get. This is the award Carson Williams won. Not the KABC vote which is a senior award. Might not seem fair what the KABC does but it is what it is. In my opinion it is a great way to honor seniors.

mooremiller coming through with the goods!!!!

I aim to please!!

Not surprised to see the 7th and 9th Region choices.

Is this award voted on or is there a committee who picks winners?

Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches who are members of the KABC are sent a ballot 3 weeks in advance of votes being due. The rules are as follows.

1. Must be a senior

2. Can't vote for a player on your own team

3. To be eligible to win you must have a coach, head or assistant, as a KABC member.

So under these rules, there was a 3-way tie in one region? That's bizarre.

I've seen ties before but not 3 tie for it.

Yes oddly enough there was a 3 way tie. Strange as it seems it's true.

I'm not criticizing by any means but what are the odds of that? And how did Ray Spalding get that many votes?

How many votes were there for that region?

Almost seems orchestrated.

Depends on how many coaches are members

You can find a membership list on the KABC website. Like I stated before not all coaches vote and you can't vote for your own player.

I will say this, some regions have more votes sent in then others. Nothing is "rigged" or "orchestrated" the KABC wouldn't condone or do anything like that. Lets be serious. Instead of trying to criticize a process or results that you may not agree with or seem to "add up" in your eyes, lets celebrate the kids and congratulate them.
