Is there any affect with Holman and the new AAU age rule? I know he reclassified to 2016 but was curious. Never really understood those age rules fully

The new rules only affect middle school aged kids. At the same time a player who reclassifies like Holman did is eligible to play 17U again.

The only event he won't be eligible for is AAU state. For a player to reclassify, they have to graduate first. Aric won't graduate until almost June. AAU State is early May. He'll have to be a spectator for state this year.

Why is Holman reclassifying to 2016? He dominated last summer and had some nice offers on the table. Runs the risk of injury it would seem.

In regards to the roster, sounds like it will be loaded. Whats up with the 16U Squad, Q?

Aric is reclassing because he is one of the kids who can actually use the extra year. He's very young. He won't turn 18 until mid July. The year of prep school will allow him to hit the weights, which is needs. It will also allow him more freedom to play the 3 or 4 spot at Hargrave and should see his stock go up. He's already cracked the Scout Top 100 for the 2016 class.

As far as 16s go, we're still working on it. We have some nice pieces already in place. We're going to have 2 16u teams so we're actually looking for 18-20 solid players.

Does it seem like that a lot of the top players join the travelers and end up leaving? Why is that?

Only player I reference in this post is Goodin since he was mentioned earlier in the post as playing for the Travelers and joining HD, but that is not accurate. He played for NIKE EYBL St. Louis Eagles. He likely wanted to play for a KY based team his final year of travel ball or perhaps he left the St. Louis Eagles for another reason. At one point since that time, he indicated he was going to join Braxton Beverly in the backcourt and play with the Travelers. However, as I always say until the season starts kids and parents may change their mind and that obviously is what happened. He will be fun to watch with Eli on that HD 17U team and adding him as the PG solidifies a solid backcourt. I can see why it was a good fit for both him & the team. It will be an exciting year for the 17U Hoop Dreams team. However, Goodin never played for the Travelers that I am aware of as he just announced or told a scouting service before changing his mind.

Other than Raymond and Christian Thieneman leaving last year, I don't know of any player to leave the EYBL roster. There has probably been some movement on the 16u level that I'm not aware of.

Speaking of 16s I am hearing that Trace Young is leaving Hoop Dreams to join the Louisville Magics 16s. If so, that Louisville Magic team should be loaded again with him and the others I've heard they have.

That's interesting... Have you heard why?

I am not commenting on players I have no affiliation with, but as it relates to "hearing" about any player, Trace Young or anyone else, that is leaving from and joining another team there is a single rule to follow....don't believe everything you hear. Until a player or parent or reputable reporting service announces it, don't consider what you hear factual. Even if there is a player announcement, it is subject to change as kids change their minds.

That is the nature of travel ball world of team rosters. They are fluid and not static. But never put much stock in what you hear because programs/teams will at times throw out names of kids about to come over just to get other players to commit, so it comes down to a smoke screen effect many times.

I don't believe anything I hear about AAU rosters until I see it. Can't even go by what some parents or other "reputable" source say. Everything seems to be subject to change.

I'm not sure other than them being on the circuit which I assuming will be the Adidas version of the EYBL. I'm guessing there are some things that help the program out financially but I don't have all of the details of what the sponsorship includes yet.

Any ideas as to what the sponsorship includes yet? I haven't heard the details???

I haven't heard details. I'd say we'll find out soon.
