I agree. Wasn't counting out the others. Just curious why when we talk about a POY candidate from Holmes, everyone is quick to go to Tubbs? Not saying she is not the right choice, just curious where Harris would be.

Very close; seeing them play multiple times is why I give Tubbs the slight edge. Both very great players & their only Juniors'

Baised my COY off improvement from last years team. 17-9 record average team to a state top 10 team this year. Those transfers did have a huge impact on the turn around. Took some tinkering and kids roles on the team changed but Coach came up with the right formula to make this team successful

One more question for the holmes group. Everyone is quick to go with Tubbs. But why not Harris? I love Tubbs' game, but Harris seems to be right there on the same team. I obviously haven't seen them as much as you guys, but Harris was leading the team in scoring and I know she plays defense well. Is there some reason Tubbs is such the easy pick for holmes fans?

And the comparisons are fair when it comes Harris and Tubbs and what seperates them are game minutes! Harris has played more minutes than Tubbs for various reasons. In fact I would venture to say that Tubbs and Gulley both play significantly less minutes than most teams starters and impact players or who knows what their numbers could look like! I'm not knocking it because it has been a blessing to both of these young ladies legs and has worked out best for the team!

Personally, I like what a lot of you have posted. DG21, I especially like your COY.

Whether its right or not, I don't know, but no one hardly ever gets more than two players from one team voted on a all region team, unless your say...E'town. Because of that, I am guessing, the actual list will look something like this. (The players below POY are not in any particular order)

I think if any team does get three, it will probably be Holy Cross with McClendon....(please don't shoot me )

If its like all the other all region teams, some very good players that have played at a high level this year will slip through the cracks.

And who out there has the actual list. Someone does.

This is all in good fun and discussion.

Holmes has had to play big games without always having the luxury of Harris and Tubbs at full strength and have still won. Without the defense of Gulley in the paint the team would have struggled to defend as well as it has! With that being said I could have made a strong case for Englemons all around play as well! And I have not even mentioned Stoval! Her scoring is down but so is everyone on this teams but her defense has been Superb and her game management has been much improved!

Third best team my opinion

Not per your previous answer. You responded correctly regarding the 'best' team in the region.

Someone that should get strong consideration for regional coach of the year is Beechwood's Todd Houston. They have played with only 8 players most of the year. Their starting point guard has missed most if not all year (not sure), and have no seniors on the team. They have remained competitive through most of the games and with at a record of 10 - 15, for how many injuries they have dealt with this year, a pretty darn good job.

McClendon HC, And Englemon Holmes may or may not make All Ninth but they both do so much for there team that don't show up in box scores.

There are so many other good players that haven't even been mentioned...just full of talent.

Start with Ally Johnson (Beechwood), Mallory Schwartz (Ryle) and McKenzie Leigh (HHS) really only being mentioned once so far. All 3 are outstanding and could very easily take the spot of any of the kids mentioned so far.

But here's a list of other very good players that haven't even been mentioned. Not player of the year candidates, but very good players. You give me my choice of the two team of 8 out of these kids and I would have two regional contenders. Just look at all the talent in the 9th. You can almost make an argument for everyone of them! That's crazy!

Any relation to the Cheatum who played for the boys teams a few years back? If so how tall is she seems like that family produced height, and talent!

Not sure. I would guess yes. I'm pretty sure she's the daughter of Donnie Cheatum that played at Holmes in my day! Very good athlete.

If she's the daughter of Donnie, then yes she's the younger sister of the Donnie who played at Lloyd a few years ago.

A lot of talent in the region no doubt and I look at it this way what player has more of an impact on their team and could you win without her. I believe the top 3 teams have enough talent on their teams that they can win without their best player. The other teams cannot not win without their best player IMO.
