He is a good player. I have heard that he is 16 years old. Some may not care about that, but he is already older than a lot of sophomores. Anyone from Elliott county know how old the kid is for sure?

So, if he's 16 and in the 8th grade he will be ineligible his senior year. Surely his parents are that stupid. Maybe he could reclassify like Andrew Wiggins and make himself a senior his junior year and everyone will be happy. Orrrrrrrrr, he's not 16.

Like I said, "as they should be". 15 or 16 doesn't matter to me. If a kid is held back for sports, in my opinion it's wrong and should not be allowed. It provides a competitive advantage and detracts from those kids doing it the right way. For the record, I have no idea if the kid mentioned is held back. Mine is a general opinion on hold backs.

Call it sour grapes, an attack on the kid or whatever you would like. I call it what I believe it is....wrong if it is done to give the kid a competitive advantage in sports. Though it does not violate the letter of the rule it violates the spirit of the rule. Maybe there have have been a lot of comments on here because a lot of people don't think it's right. What's more likely is that parents of kids who get sent farther down the totem pole get on here to cast a bad light on other parents and kids who make a decision, for a myriad of reasons, that they feel in the best interest of their child. Instead of taking it in stride, they gripe. Instead of praising a kid because of his skill or ability, they say it's only because he's a "holdback". That may wash in the 6th grade, but in high school it doesn't.

 

I won't skew this thread any longer, again, I say good luck slaying the giant in the next round to the Lions of Elliott.
