What is there to be jealous of? Heck, it makes me even more proud of my kids for their accomplishments academically, athletically and socially. Also,yield it must matter to some coaches because they ask the question.

Wow! And again your statement proves to show a jealous parent and hater! I know the kid personally...excels academically and athletically. Remind you again, he is playing against kids that are sophomores, juniors, and seniors (kids that are older than him) if you want to compare his age to a freshmans. True hater when all you want to focus on is his age and not his accomplishments. And no, a college coach doesn't care how old you are...they red shirt kids for a reason....to mature!

That's accurate. The little Griffith twins are fearless, as is the Spencer kid. #40 shoots the ball well for his size. Though I think it would take a huge effort from Elliott and a subpar showing for NCC to get upset.

 

If he's really a 16 year old 8th grader it'll haunt him later when he's ineligible to play sports his senior year.

Didn't see the more recent posts on his age... I thought 16 sounded a bit much.

Like I said, "as they should be". 15 or 16 doesn't matter to me. If a kid is held back for sports, in my opinion it's wrong and should not be allowed. It provides a competitive advantage and detracts from those kids doing it the right way. For the record, I have no idea if the kid mentioned is held back. Mine is a general opinion on hold backs.

I think this is a good way to end the debate if you get hung up about the impact on being held back for whatever purpose. Given he is not any older than most freshmen, consider him a freshmen for comparison purposes if it takes away the bias on hold back opinions. He still is competing well against several grades of kids who are still older than him, of whom also could be kids who were held back themselves. Hats off to the 15 year old kid competing well out there and making an impact for his team.
