St. Joes Cold Spring 8th grade?

St. Mary's 7th/8th grade combo team from the kids cut from 7th-8th grades. 0-9. Bad coaching!

TAC, all joking aside, I can't tell you how much I respect what you're doing with those boys. I guarantee they are learning a lot about hoops....and even more about being a man and life in general.

My Dad and I coached together at Holy Spirit in Newport and had some really good teams. A couple of years later, we coached at Holy Trinity after the merger. In 2 seasons, we had maybe 1 completed left handed dribble. We won 1 game in 2 seasons. However, we had some of the smartest kids around in terms of Academics and we learned something new every day with them. (One kid had blueprints for contstructing a light saber and brought it to practice to show us.) A couple of those kids made it to medical school and almost all of them stop by to say hi. It really changed my appreciation for sports. You can coach, not win, and still enjoy the game.

Thanks! A couple of them can be very frustrating at times, but we try to keep in perspective what we are working with. Intertesting trying to find that mix of trying to win, letting them play, having fun and teaching the game.

I have learned a lot this year, hopefully the kids have too.

Bellevue 6th grade has won 4 straight games so my guess is they have moved up significantly.
