BBC News - Gary Glitter Trial: Singer 'Crept Into Schoolgirl's Bed'

Gary Glitter crept into a schoolgirl's bed and tried to rape her at the height of his fame, a court has heard.

The prosecution opened its case against the former glam rock singer, who faces 10 charges relating to alleged sex offences against three girls.

Prosecuting, John Price QC said the 70-year-old - real name Paul Gadd - had given an Easter egg to the girl the morning after the alleged incident.

Mr. Gadd, from London, denies the allegations, dating from 1975 to 1980.

He denies seven counts of indecent assault, one count of attempted rape, and two other sexual offences.

Isn't this old news or is this a new allegation?!

Wondering that myself. I thought it had been a pretty well known fact for years that the guy is a perv.

I've always wondered how that song became so ingrained in sports. I think I've heard it or the band play it at every high school game I've been to.

"7 Nation Army" has all but replaced it.

I always thought that this was originally a Joan Jett tune.

I wonder if it even ever entered Jack White's mind when writing this tune that it would become such a sports anthem? It must blow his mind that it did. How flattering to an artist it must be when your song is embraced on a level like that.

Never cared much for that song.

The majority of Joan Jett's hits are covers, interestingly enough.

A big part of why I never had a great deal of respect for her as an artist compared to those who write their own stuff.

This is more true than I ever realized.

I just did a quick search and saw where "I Love Rock n' Roll" was also a cover tune from a band named "Arrows".

I always thought that this was her tune, and amazed at how catchy it was.

Now I'm starting to wonder if any of her better songs and hits were actually written by her.

Nonetheless, I still dig her a lot and think that she's pretty cool, and has at least been a great interpreter of some hot tunes even though she didn't actually write them.
