Tanner Morgan QB Sophomore Hazard/ Transfered to Ryle

Featured Replies

I did not see a lot of Ryle games last year but the few I did see including their 7 on 7's they had about an equal problem with accuracy as well as dropped passes. So it will be interesting to see if any WR's step up this year to help Morgan out. Arnwine was a really nice receiver but he was a SR.

That should not be an issue.

I hope you are right. I've been a fan of Ryle's program for years and am ready to see them get back to their 2010-2011 form.

I believe that they will. They have some very good skill players ready to make an impact. The issue with Ryle will not be at the skill spots, it will be at the line development. They have some good pieces there but the depth may be of concern.

He played more than 1 play. If you say he fumbled then isn't that part of football? He fumbled so that's Cooper's fault? I don't understand.

I just don't understand the excuses Ryle fans are coming up with now. I guess Cooper can play that game also and say Hendrix only caught 3 passes and those were the only times he touched the ball on offense. If they would have thrown the ball more to him then Cooper may have won by 30.

England played against Cooper

Ryle lost to Cooper

Pretty much self explanatory.

I am not trying to make excuses. You may be right in that he played more than one play. I only mentioned that play because he fumbled and I remember him not playing much, if at all after that. I guess my point was that becasue he was injured, he did not play much at all and was not a factor in that game. Cooper definitely came to play that night more so than Ryle did. That being said, I would have loved to see those two match up later in the season. I believe it would have been a totally different ball game. I think you will see a different Ryle team this year versus Cooper.

I do know he didn't get a lot of touches that game. He didn't get hurt that game, he was already nursing a groin injury if I remember correctly that occurred before the season started and played with that injury all through the season. In any case, he is a great player and as I have mentioned in prior posts is that as far as England goes next year so does Ryle.

Glad we cleared the air about whether England played and how much.

Glad Ryle fans are so concerned about beating Cooper they are garaunteeing a victory.

Cooper is focused on one team and that is there first opponent which for the first time in several years in NOT Ryle.

As I have said previously, Cooper just keeps working hard and stays humble and let their play speak for itself. Cooper is rarely favored in any game it plays so no one from Ryle is delivering any news flashes by posting how bad Cooper is gonna get beat by Ryle.

Ryle apparently has a great QB and is loaded as most have indicated in this thread and that's good for them and NKY.

As for Cooper, well there just lil ol' Cooper, no flash, no predictions, no bigtime transfers. Just good old fashioned hard work and execution of whatever coach Borchers wants them to do and letting the results speak for itself.

When will Cooper serve the crow:popcorn:

I have seen the England kid play and if Ryle is putting their hopes in him running the ball they are in for a long season. I still believe they are playing him out of position,,, he would be much better suited to be a tight end which I believe he has had much success early on. The Bateman kid and McGregor kid should take over the running duties,, put all your talent on the field at the same time and make teams play the entire field. Now I know I will come under attack for this and it is ok,, but I think teams would welcome a slower back like England than the speed of Bateman and McGregor

Actually I've seen them all running conditioning sprints and you would have to pull out the camera and look at the final photo to declare a winner . They are all within a half step of each other. I haven't seen one being faster than the other. They looked even to me.. All three being really fast.

Well if England is around 220 and runs with the lighter guys. That's impressive.

Well then prepare yourself, if he stays healthy, to watch a TE rush for a 1000+ yards. The challenge Ryle will have this offseason is where to place all the athletes? Looking forward to seeing how it all pans out. The Raiders will be geared for a prosperous 2015!

Back to Morgan. With a strong running game he will see balanced defenses and a lot of cover zero across the board. He has no fear in that he does not have to see the receiver open he can throw them open. If we can win on our routes you wont have to be down field waving and doing jumping jacks to get the ball, just run. He is polished enough to get you the ball and let you try to make the play. I've seen the QB play here ( Ryle ) lately hold the rock instead of throwing it to the right spot and letting the WR go get it. This is not the case now. Tanner won't have to be superman in this offense to put up big numbers. Just let it go on time. The running game was good and now it will be great. I know I have high expectations, but this is the most talent that Ryle has had on offense in years since Elliot, and back to Hempel's years. It will be fun to see how it pans out!

Teams do not play cover zero vs good running teams, because their is no support if they get thru the line. Most teams prefer to play with two high safeties that play at about 7-10 yards and their corners 3-5 yards off the LOS. Then which ever safety the ball is run towards they come up and fill hard and the other safety rotates over the top. Turning the coverage into cover 3. But if they read pass they both stay back and it turns into basically cover 4 or a soft cover 2. Cooper is a good example of a team that does this and they do it well. Doing this allows the defense to essentially have 8 in the box but on pre snap they only have 7 and the 8th guy will, most likely, be unaccounted for in the blocking scheme.

Coopers strength was that the MLB was able to run free and scraped well to the ball. Small kid but took great angles and tackled legs. I think most teams will leave their corners on an island to bring the safety's closer to the box. I seen alot of teams bring a OLB on run blitz and we could not seem to be able to call hot and get the ball to the TE or WR screen even when we had numbers. this should be fixed also by watching film. We were run blitzed alot leaving the middle of the field wide open. We just never could see the spot to throw the post open. It was there quite often. Instead we forced it to a double covered hitch. Tanner loves the long ball, and is good enough to see that spot. Hard to tell what coverage some teams were in because they played so shallow to gang up on the run game.

Excellent point DD!! Glad someone understands. No sense trying to argue logic and common football knowledge.
