January 17, 201511 yr Early on the morning of Tuesday, January 17, 2012, a powerful squall line swept through southern Indiana and central Kentucky along a sharp cold front. Small circulations developed along the line, resulting in nine known tornadoes, mostly across southern Indiana and northern Kentucky. The Louisville metropolitan area appeared to be at the center of the tornado activity, with four tornadoes occurring within or just outside of the city. Storms of January 17, 2012
January 18, 201511 yr Wow! Didn't realize it had been three years. I've driven down route 25 near Bagby road quite a few times and there are still homeowners working on getting some damage fixed.
January 18, 201511 yr No one knew it at the time, but it was the start of what would be a very deadly tornado season around these parts.
January 18, 201511 yr Glad your feeling better nWo.. You seem to be back to your old self, after a slight hiatius it seemed.
January 18, 201511 yr Was these the same tornados that did all the damage in West Liberty? No... I believe that was later in the year, the same day as the big tornadoes in Henryville, IN.
January 18, 201511 yr No... I believe that was later in the year, the same day as the big tornadoes in Henryville, IN. I swear I can't remember a tornado outbreak in January. February always has abnormal temps, golf weather, etc. But I can't remember anything in January
January 18, 201511 yr Author Glad your feeling better nWo.. You seem to be back to your old self, after a slight hiatius it seemed. Thanks but I was down for awhile because of my daughter in law had a serious operation but she is doing great now. I'm getting ready for my knee replacement surgery next month so I dont know how much I'll be on then. Was these the same tornados that did all the damage in West Liberty? No the West Liberty tornado was in March. I swear I can't remember a tornado outbreak in January. February always has abnormal temps, golf weather, etc. But I can't remember anything in January It was unusually warm in the 60's that day when the strong cold front came through. I remember it because I was watching the Bowling Green area closely. Also the Louisville area.
January 18, 201511 yr Author I remember this quite well because the ef-0 tornado in Owensboro was the first one I called by looking at the radar. Also the one in the Bowling Green area was close to where my son and his family lives. The one that tracked from Indiana into N.Kentucky I warned people about before it got to Kentucky. One other little bit of information. They called this the worst outbreak in 24 years back then. This contains the West Liberty tornado March 2,2012 tornado map
January 18, 201511 yr No... I believe that was later in the year, the same day as the big tornadoes in Henryville, IN. Those were in early March
