Bolden came down hard on his tailbone with less than 2 seconds left in the first half after a steal and a quick shot attempt near the basket that lead to a foul.

 

It also looked like he might've banged his elbow as well. He was in serious pain and someone else (I forget who) shot his free throws for him to end the quarter.

 

He came back out of the locker room and started the 3rd quarter and didn't look effected as he continued to knock down some big shots.

 

Perhaps it was best for him to keep moving rather that get stiff sitting the bench.

 

There was some big time silence in the gym with everyone holding their breath until he finally was helped to his feet.

 

Cracking the ol tailbone on the hardwood is no fun for sure. Hope he's fine and with no lingering issues. He's likely to experience tenderness there, but hopefully it's nothing that proves serious.

Holmes held pretty much a 10-14 point lead much of the night, and the only thing that kept things from getting too out of hand was that Holy Cross continued to connect on their 3's to keep it that way and somewhat interesting until it started to get out of hand late.

 

There was never an real threat of HC coming back as the Dawgs continued to answer anytime the Indians got a hot hand.

 

As it has been all year HC lives and dies by the 3.

2004 was the last time, they have had some good teams since then and you know as well as I do that if they were in any other District in the Region they would be in the Regional 6 or 7 out of 10 years. It's just tough to be in a District with Holmes and CCH who are such powers in the Region and heck they have both even won the State now too!!

I agree with you that HC has had some good teams during that span, but unfortunately for HC, CovCath and Holmes have been loaded during the same time period. It is no doubt the hardest district in the 9th region with the 33rd coming in second.

Holmes ran out to a 27-16 first quarter lead and never looked back. Dogs were too athletic and fast for HC last night and got in the paint and to the rim way too easy. HC did stay within contact by knocking down 10 3's however Holmes also knocked them down hitting 9 (Bolden with 6). Ind ians cut lead to 10 or 11 early in 4th but Holmes answered with another big run.

 

I was surprised at how little Coach Listerman used his bench last night. Outside of Arnold and Covington changing places due to fouls, etc...I only recall seeing Commodore and B. Englemon for 2-3 minutes. Bolden, McClendon, Mullins and Avery had to play 29 or 30 minutes out of the 32. These 4 all had great games though as Walter's stats above indicate.

 

I liked Rod Avery going into the game and even more pressed coming out of the game. Kid is athletic, quick and can really play. Tyler Bezold for HC continued his hot streak leading the Indians with 21 points. He his a couple 3's from the volleyball line.

That year they beat Ludlow 49-33 at Holmes in the 1st round of district, then lost to Cov Cath 46-34 in the District Championship.

 

Holy Cross then drew Highlands for the 1st round of the region (at Conner) and lost 60-56. HHS then cruised to the regional championshp, beating SK 63-49 in the semis and CCH 58-37 in the 9th regional finals.
