Just a thought here, Take a look at the overall program over the last few years, If you look SK's Program has been good over the past 5 or 6 years, Some of the other teams are just a 1 year wonder.

I also was curious about the "magnet" comment. Outside of one good player that chose SK over Scott as her high school choice, I'm not aware of the pool of great players (outside their district) that are knocking down the doors to go to SK. Maybe I'm wrong. But one kid that chose a different school in an open enrollment system doesn't equal kids seeking out SK to play at the next level!

 

I agree with 7's, SK is a huge school and should be good every year. If they weren't, that's when there should be questions. They have a nice staff for sure, but my guess is that a decent coach would still do well at SK because of the number of girls coming through the doors! And I know there is a player that left SK to play elsewhere. Did she not have aspirations of playing at the next level? I know...her mom went to school where she attends now. But if it was so attractive, I bet she wouldn't have considered the move...since she could attend SK for free!

 

I would go as far to say this...with Walton's success that seems to be equal to SK, a great coaching staff at Walton and Walton being a smaller school with a great education, why would kids pick SK over Walton? Seems as a parent, Walton competes just fine as a package.

What part of her primary sport is softball is difficult for you to understand? And you are right, she WAS a good basketball player. She is focused on SB now.

Very aware of her. Coached her in AAU and she plays on my daughterr's summer softball team. And if you think she left for softball, well I don't know what to tell. No one gets recruited because of high school results anymore. Where you play is for fun and the experience of playing with your friends. The whole point is, insinuating that SK is the "pipeline" to the "next level" is silly! Show me a list of players over the last 5 years of kids that play or played at the next level because of SK?

Maybe the pipeline has been under construction for the last 5 or 6 years? Maybe with the final touches of the D1 schemes put in by the D1 coaches the pipeline will start to Pay some dividends to the SK fans.

Heck, I saw the head women's coach from Notre Dame at a Pre-season game. If you ever been to the Lexington Catholic tournament during Christmas break College Coaches from all over the US are there to recruit. Yes, AAU is where they like to go watch games because those are the games that don't mess with their in season duties. But if you don't think that school ball is not the pipeline to the next level pretty sure I would like to smoke whatever your on cause it must be some good stuff. These kids are STUDENT-athletes coaches want to know they can perform in the class room well while dealing

with the stress of playing basketball. What good is an athlete if they can't play due to academics?

Agreed! For NAIA and D3 schools with small recruiting budgets...it make sense for them to go to big HS tournaments where they can see many good prospects in one place. That's kinda the AAU philosophy for that level. It also makes good sense for them to swing by high school games at schools that have a LONG tradition of winning and getting their hands on elite talent...Sacred Heart for example. Many years of a very high level of success with MANY very high level players attending their school. But that is not what we are talking about here.

 

They do show up at HS games, but as you know, the very high majority of recruiting is not done at high schools anymore.
