January 5, 201511 yr Haven't done that one yet. I read the first four books but didn't go back to the new one when it was released. Feels like 2015 is a good year to get caught up. ADWD is markedly better than AFFC, but the best part is all of the fan theories to immerse yourself in once it's all over. Some of these people have written articles almost as long as the books detailing their theories. It's insane. And addicting.
January 5, 201511 yr Reading Brandon Sanderson's "The Way of Kings". Book 1 of a 10 part epic fantasy series, The Stormlight Archive. Hopefully he releases them quicker than Martin is finishing up GOT. ENJOY IT. I named my dog Kaladin after those books. Met Sanderson twice. Great guy. He is a machine. You dont have to wait on his books. Let me know what you think after. The last 150 pages will have you on the edge of your seat.

I'm about halfway through right now, and am hating that my current workload and other obligations are only allowing me about 30-40 minutes of reading time a night. I love it so far and hate putting it down! Already have Words of Radiance ready to go as soon as I get done with it.

I usually say go that route if you're getting introduced to his work. His next SA book he has projected at early 2016. You can actually get on his websit and he has progress bars of what he's writing and how far into the writing process he is.

Wanted to get myself acclimated to his writing style. Loved all three of them. His books and style are different than Martin's GOT, but for my money they're right up there with them at the top of the genre.

They are mammoths as far as books go. All 10 books have themes around main characters. Without getting into big spoilers because I need more people to discuss these books with, the first book is all about Kaladin, second is Shallan, third I think is Szeth, fourth is a character you haven't met yet and 5th is Dalinar. At the end of the 2nd you'll start to understand it and wrap your head around what he's doing.

Yeah, there's quite a bit I'm not real sure on (i.e. Voidbringers, Soulcasting, spren, etc.), but after reading Mistborn, I'm confident everything will make sense before too long. Had read that books 1-5 centered around 5 separate characters as you mentioned, then books 6-10 are centered around those same 5 characters. So basically each gets 2 books. :idunno:
January 5, 201511 yr ^ I actually recorded his Q and A when I went to see him in Dayton last year. Which I wouldn't have deleted it. Basically you'll get your interlude characters that you are seeing a little bit of in the first 2 books. Those will be the characters in book 6-10. At least that's what I remember. All of those come full circle near the end. Actually I'm 100% sure they do. It's a wild ride. I loved Kaladins back story.
