Rule question

Featured Replies

If a player gets fouled hard and cannot shoot his FT, is it the coach's choice?

It would be the player that is put in for the injured player.. And the coach has the choice who he wants to put in the game.

Thanks.

I do not think this is correct for high school. I think that's a college rule.

Unless it's changed in the last few years the coach of the team with the injured players picks his shooter off of his bench.

Sounds like both of you are saying the same thing.

Sorry. Misread it. We're on the same page.

Who else's choice would it be? :idunno:

I am pretty sure that in college the opposing coach gets to choose the shooter.

The guy keeping book. :lol2: :lol2:

That's stupid. Why would you punish the shooting team for an injury? And one that was caused by the opposing team in the first place?!

True Dat...good point.

I think the real rationale behind the college rule change was to not allow the fouled player to fake an injury so that a better free throw shooter could be substituted for him.

That's a good point too...hadn't thought of that.

But you still leave open the possibility of a good free throw shooter being fouled hard enough to take him out on purpose. Stupid rule imo.
