You are assuming no concessions. I am assuming concessions will be part of the process to re-establishing relations with Cuba. I believe if there are no concessions by Cuba, this effort will be short lived.

 

Do you feel non-Cuban Latinos will totally ignore how the Republicans handle this issue?

 

How can propping up a brutal regime help the Cuban people? What concessions have been pried out of the Cuban dictators? Also, compensation for stolen US property needs to be addressed. If I have missed details on these items, would someone address them?

What angers me about this topic is the people who agree with Obama obviously do not understand the complex issues associated with lifting our position on Cuba. How can removing your biggest bargaining chip from table before you recieve major concessions be a good thing. I pray some of you aren't in positions that require major negotiations , if you are private message me I got a deal for you !

 

Heck we didn't even get what Obama wanted in 2008 when he said he wouldn't talk about changing policy on Cuba until they freed all political prisoners. No big deal though just another issue Obama lied to the American people about.

I am referring to the lost Latin American vote. It has been a big factor in Obama winning two elections and the Republicans continue to make moves that Latin Americans don't like.

 

I had mentioned above curiosity about Cuban Americans being opposed to Obama's move. I saw a poll this week that showed the opposition is from 65+year old Cuban Americans and the younger you go, the more Cuban Americans like this move.

As I continue to think this through, a simple question comes to mind. Will this move improve the lives of the people of Cuba? For those opposed, please tell me how this move will make things worse for the people of Cuba.

 

I would say, the reason for that discrepancy is that many of those 65+ either lived in Cuba under Castro and know first hand what it's like, or know the pain of having many loved ones, brothers, sisters, ect. still over there living under oppression. The younger Cuban/Americans who want open relations, I bet dollars to doughnuts the great majority were born and raised here and don't know first hand of the Castro regime and don't know the true Cuban struggle that many of their elders do.
