Campbell County 80 Newport 55

On a side note, Dre Jackson was awarded player of the game, he did play well. I take nothing from Dre, he's a force every time he walks on the floor. However, after going back and listening the the broadcast, the announcers picked Blake Losey as their player of the game. They even mentioned the guy on the floor for the player of the game interview made a mistake. Jackson, Wilson, Losey, all were deserving. Just wanted to give Blake a SHOUT OUT.

He never really got it going tonight, they played tough D on him

Hope there any D-1 coaches in the house tonight..

I texted them and asked who they wanted as player of the game and never got a reply so i went with Dre since he was high scorer with 18 points.

I would've had no problem with Losey. He was definitely deserving and played well last night. I believe he had 7 of Campbell's first 10 points. He gives great effort at both ends.

Not at all unexpected.

Agreed. I was one in the prediction thread that thought this game was going to be a whitewash, I just am not convinced that Newport has enough depth of talent to compete with the top teams. I'm also a huge fan of this Camels' team, I just figured they'd be way too much.

I'm not at all convinced that Newport is better than 9th or 10th in NKY this year, in spite of so many people continuing to try and convince me otherwise.

Side-note: anyone want to project that the Camels will hold CVH to 3 points tonight? :sssh:

All I can say is I told you so... The hype had to meet the paint for me. Newport has talent however if they want to win the big games they can't depend on Snapp for the shot that has been the problem he's being double teamed (but if he'sD1potential shouldn't this be a given) coach is going to have to go with the Rico and Ricardo being in at the same time for the speed and the more athletic advantage them two together are the probably the most athletic 2 kids I have seen in ninth District yet.

Camels put five players in double figures:

Jackson with 18 (7-11 from field and 3-3 from FT line)

Wilson with 17, 9 boards, 5 blocks (6-10 from field with 2 treys and 3-4 from FT line)

Losey with 15 (6-10 from field and 2-2 from line) 2nd straight game in double figures

Day with 14 (5-6 shooting with 4-5 from behind the arc)

Hegyi with 10 and 9 rebounds (5-6 shooting)

Well balanced effort.

Campbell shot 58.5% (31-53) from the floor, 50% from 3 (8-16), & 90.9% (10-11) from the charity stripe.

I wasn't trying to throw you under the bus Walter, if it came off that way, I apologize. I was sure there was just a mix up, or break down in communication.

As I said, Dre was just as deserving as Losey, Wilson, or others. I just wanted the Give Losey a little love.

I was in Newport and almost came up the hill to the game.

You should have.
