Not taking anything away from the girls who are listed but how many of them have their team in the state tourney??

Some of those girls that aren't in the Sweet 16 also play in tougher regions ... Terry and Queen are solid players, but in a year that Kentucky's girls are on a big upswing in talent, some good players get left off of the list.

Agreed...but...There is no denying that Queen and Terry should have been included at least as Honorable Mention...No offense to The Baldwin girl at EC but she would not have received a D1 scholarship before her injury either.

My guess is after this week's state tourney, Some voters will wish they had added a few names to the list, Most notable would be Laura Terry and Emily Queen from Rose Hill. Both will play at a major D1 school and Terry just lit up Shelby for 34 and probably 12 to 15 rebounds! Big disappointment to see these to left off the list. What grade are the girls from Rose Hill and where do you think they will go.

I agree, and I don't want to demean anyone that was recognized on the teams as they were selected. Like Pick-n-roll, I think Queen and Terry should have made Honorable Mention - at the VERY least.

 

I believe that Queen and Terry are both Juniors. I have no idea who is looking at Terry, but Queen is getting interest from several very high caliber programs.

In the last month of the season Tamara Sneed stepped up and proved that she is the best player in the 9th region and she should have atleast been considered to be nominated to the all state team.

Once again the voters in the AP poll have put out their All-State Team and once again they have failed to realize that NKY is a part of the state of Kentucky. Any All-State Team that does not include Rachel Lantry as at least Honorable Mention is an absolute farce. The numbers that this young lady has been able to put together over her 4 year career are without question worthy of of All-State recognition and her not being included pretty much shows you that the members that vote see very little girls basketball especially in the Northern part of the state.

Anybody have a list of who voted? I'm curious to know if the two eligible Eastern Kentucky papers (in Pikeville and Prestonsburg) even submitted nominations. I always voted when I was at Pikeville, but I believe the sports editor at Prestonsburg is under the incorrect assumption that he's not eligible to either nominate vote. (Yes, Steve, you are.)

She is as good as Brooke Faulkner. And each has scored a bunch of points against teams I have coached.

If you saw the all-star game yesterday, Lantry not even close.

She put up comparable numbers to last year without the all-star cast of Noll and Bass. She had to step up in positions she never had to in previous seasons. When you start doing that, obviously you're going to lose out in the numbers game somewhere else. What it boils down to is the fact that she didn't play for a big name team, a team that's recognized as a powerhouse throughout the state (ie Boone Cty or Notre Dame) s.

 

A. I don't follow girls as closely as boys high school b-ball. However, I find it hard to believe that EVERY girl named is better than Rachel Lantry. If so, Coach Winstel at NKU needs to get out more and go get THOSE girls.

 

LRL - HC IMO is more "big time" than NDA. Their success in recent years makes that the case. You cannot say no one knows HC around the state. Those that are "in the know" know HC. They've made too many trips and won too many games. NDA, while larger in enrollment, has NOT had the success that HC has had.

There is as I remember only like 10 people voting for the AP. They are basically concentrated in Lex. and Louis. etc. If you didn't play for LC or Scott or sign with UK you had a hard time getting on a team. I doubt if hardly any of the voters saw many games. That is why the CJ's coaches teams are more accurate.

I'm sure he would love to. Check out the list of colleges that the all-staters are signed with ... there are some big-time programs there. Some Division I signees are on the honorable mention list.
