November 18, 201411 yr Only thing my dad ever used, so I grew up on them. Personally I think it's the smoothest shave there is. Easy to cut yourself though. Takes some practice. So it's called a safety razor but it's easy to cut yourself? Does anyone else see the irony in that? Just me? Ok...

November 18, 201411 yr I have a 1949 Gillette super-speed from my grandfather used for many years. I also have a 1966 Gillette flair end super speed that was my dad's. That's the one I use now. If you haven't bought a razor I recommend ebay and getting a 66. Mint they're $25 or so.

Smooth and close shave as long as you prepare your face, use sharp blades, and take your time. It's what I learned to shave with. The problem I'm having is finding the blades. Anybody know where I can get them in NKY area? Right now I have to order them online.

Sure wish I still had it. I've really only used the adjustable(butterfly), would like to give the two or three piece design a try. Edited November 18, 201411 yr by OlDog75

November 18, 201411 yr Just got me a hook up for a whole bunch of razors. Someone gave me a huge box about 5 years ago and right as they were getting low another connection hooks me up with another huge bundle! Gotta love it!
November 18, 201411 yr I know most Walmarts carry Personna and Fromm blades. I've tried searching WalMarts in Alexandria, Fort Wright, Dry Ridge, Florence, and have yet to find any.

I've really only used the adjustable(butterfly), would like to give the two or three piece design a try. Never had the opportunity to try one. Other than the 2 I have, I've only used one other razor. It was a Merkur Classic that I picked up at a flea market. It's my travel razor. Mainly because I don't want to take a chance on something happening to my father's razor.
November 19, 201411 yr I've tried searching WalMarts in Alexandria, Fort Wright, Dry Ridge, Florence, and have yet to find any. That's weird. Have you tried CVS, RiteAid, Walgreens, etc? Most good mom and pop pharmacies have them. Is Ruwe Family Pharmacy still up there?

Oh yes, tried them all to no avail. Haven't seen a RiteAid in years. I'll have to check out Ruwe. I just thought of something, I should try old Landwehr's, they have everything!

I "was" thinking about picking one up.
November 21, 201411 yr Author Got it in last night. Went well. Only one nick on my face which decided to bleed for about 10 minutes but other than that I got a nice smooth shave. I like the way it shaves.
