November 21, 201411 yr Got it in last night. Went well. Only one nick on my face which decided to bleed for about 10 minutes but other than that I got a nice smooth shave. I like the way it shaves. Get an alum bar. It stops nicks and weeps from shaving until you get better.
December 2, 201411 yr I haven't shaved my mustache off except for one time in over 30 years I haven't been without at least a goatee for at least 15 years I'm currently completely clean shaven, used beard trimmer to take it all off then a left over old razor to get the stubble off on Sunday. Yesterday I bought some cheap razors not sure how long I was going to stay this way. It had been so long since I had shaved my chin that I forgot about a spot that I always used to cut...guess what, cut myself and bleeding this morning. If I decide to stay clean, I'm thinking about getting a safety razor.
December 3, 201411 yr Author So GA how is the safety razor experiment going? Took some time. I'm finally getting it down. Much different way to shave compared to gillett razors. The small strokes were what took me a while to figure out. Haven't needed stitches since the first time. I actually enjoy shaving now. Feels a bit more manly :lol2:

Multi blade razors call for quite a bit of pressure from you when shaving. Safety razors is pretty much the weight of the razor and pulling at the proper angle. I think using a safety razor makes shaving into more of a ritual and pleasure instead of a routine you don't like. That, and the whole process just makes your skin feel better. I agree with you also that it just feels manly.
December 3, 201411 yr Feels a bit more manly :lol2: AFter a year or two of safety razor shaving, ask for a good Dovo straight razor for Christmas along with a good strope and a badger hair brush. I need to go to Heimerdingers to have my resharpened and get back to it. If you don't use your straight razor for a while, for some reason it loses its edge. I enjoyed straight razor shaving on the weekends when I wasn't in a rush to get to work.

I agree with you also that it just feels manly. The chin has been a bit of an issue but I'm getting better. I'm sure a month from now it'll be smooth sailing.
