Who says they have to play the city schools? I'm sure DC and Apollo wouldn't mind not playing O'Cath? I don't think people realize that every school is trying to schedule wins. So outside of district it's tough to find games if you are a winning team or a large school. I'm sure losing schools have no shortage of people wanting to play. But they are scrounging trying to schedule winnable games too. All that matters at the end of the season is your record, regardless if you played all top 10 teams and lost, you're still 0-10.

You don't want to over schedule but if you're coaching and you know you're more then likely to play a team like say Murray in the playoffs. A team that's big,physical, and athletic. I might try to schedule a couple teams similar to them during the season. That way my kids have been exposed to that. Sometimes you can learn more about your team in a loss to a good opponent then a win against a weaker one. Mayfield is going back to 2A next year, I believe, so that's another hurdle the Aces will have to prepare for.

I looked at Murray's schedules from a while back, they haven't beaten Mayfield since 90's. I think it's safe to say O'Cath will play Murray in 2nd round for the next 4 years. Mayfield runs the same offense as Mayfield since Edge and Morris attend the Tony Franklin Clinic every year.

 

So I guess Mayfield will be like Caldwell since they are replacing Caldwell in that district.

 

On scheduling, Isn't OHS good? They are pretty good. I just think it's funny O'Cath beats or does well against Henderson Co. the last several years in the scrimmage. I don't it's scheduling. Maybe since North Hardin is on the schedule late it may help. I agree with Apollo98. TOO MANY T.O's!

I think Ocath does schedule weak besides the required OHS game for city/county. At the least schedule another tough 2a team like Murray, Glasgow, Desales, CAL. I've always thought they need to lose South Spencer in a hurry.

OC loses Union Co this year to 3a so that does free up 1 game for a good out of district opponent and if they added Mater Dei out of Evansville, they definitely upgraded . Those guys are always in the top 2-3 2a teams in Indiana. N.Hardin isn't much better than Daviess or Apollo. They could have done better with that one, but, could have been worse, too. Like others have said though. The schedules not the reason they lost. They were tested a few times and Murray has just been a tough out the past few yrs.

When OC played Breese Illinois they were 5-1.

Owensboro is a quality opponent and the only team that is similar to Murray on OCHS 2014 schedule.

I know Breeze's QB got injured in that game, so that may have had something to do with the 4 game losing streak that followed? IF it is indeed Evansville Mater Dei that was added for next season, that is a big one. They may be the best team on the Aces schedule in 2015 including OHS. As far as not playing the city/county games, thats just not going to happen. I suppose they dont have to schedule them but i would have to think those games are the biggest draws of the season for Catholic or any city county school.

Wonder how well the city games will draw since they aren't the 1st three games of the year from what I've heard. As the season goes on crowds dwindle, especially if you're out of contention. Saw on the other board mater dei is a catholic school bowl. That is an interesting concept to say the least.

I think it's a matter of do 5-A schools want to play Catholic. It might be they have alot more to lose then Catholic does IMO.

 

Catholic ran into this problem before and had to play BG, Reitz, Memorial, Fort Campbell, and OHS all in the same year. Didn't help them reach the finals that year either.
