Your Top 5 Christmas Movies

Featured Replies

I've had that discussion before... as to whether a movie taking place at Christmas is a "Christmas Movie". I've lost it.

The best Christmas movie is "Die Hard".

To me Christmas has to be an integral aspect of the plot. Just taking place at Christmas would not qualify.

So no "Gremlins" either... you're really cramping my style.

A couple old made for TV half hour shows that I enjoyed but were kind of sad were Peege and Mr. Krueger's Christmas. Peege starred Jeanette Nolin and involved a family visiting their failing grandmother in a nursing home where the grandson reminisces about how she was when she was younger. Mr. Krueger's Christmas has Jimmy Stewart as a lonely old man also reminiscing/fantasizing about Christmas and his life.

1. It's a Wonderful Life...nothing else is close (Sorry Randy you are at least second)

2. A Christmas Story...I watch it start to finish 2 or 3 times a year,

3. Home Alone

4. Home Alone 2 (Makes the List for the Throwing Brick scene alone)

5. Miracle on 34th Street...I'm kind of an old school guy

This one just occurred to me: Three Days Of The Condor.

It takes place during the Christmas season.

The Salvation Army Band plays "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" at the beginning of the movie, and at the very end.
