In Class 1A, I think most everyone would agree on the favorites from each region: Mayfield, Beechwood, Williamsburg and Pikeville.

 

I'm interested in who BGPers think are the sleepers in each region? Who can play spoiler?

Region 1 - Russellville. Played Mayfield really close and their other two losses have been to good teams in higher classes

Region 2 - Frankfort. They have been really impressive and they could spoil it for the Beechies, again.

Region 3 - Hazard. Last years loss to the Yellowjackets still has a sting to it. Can Hazard get them back this time around?

Region 4 - Raceland. Raceland is good. They knocked the Panthers out last year for their first Regional Title ever and they could do it again.

Russellville is a sleeper team but I would expect Mayfield to handle them easier the next go around.

Don't know much about them, but what about the Louisville 1A schools?

Russellville is the only team in Region 1 with any chance of a upset

 

Frankfort is the only team in Region 2 with any chance of a upset

 

The East side would see Hazard and also out east is Raceland.

 

 

Outside of your 4 favorites and the 4 sleepers you mentioned I do not think anyone else has a good chance. If I were to add long shots it would be Paris, HC Louisville, Beth and Paintsville

I like Hazard as a real sleeper. I do think Raceland is very underrated but they aren't a sleeper for me. Russellville I can buy as a sleeper because no one expects them to beat Mayfield.

Raceland is the team in the East flying under the radar

 

I like Hazard...and the Jones kid is a beast... but just don't see the defense or the other weapons.

 

I really like the way Raceland is playing defense and think they have the depth of skill guys to match up with a Pikeville or Wburg.
