With my above statement, I want to wish the Phelps players a nice trip and I hope they do enjoy the competition and experience. The Phelps players were very nice last year and I expect nothing but the same this year.

I know as a player I would want the extra game but as a team doc/sideline personnel, I would rather be home where it's warm and dry.

Don't risk injury. Give the starters a series or two then use the Freshman team.

Exactly, they along with a few parents / fans that made the trip were absolutely class all the way. Raceland kids didn't really want to play them and as LR and Ram stated, the Phelps kids/football team didn't want to play.

I, personally believe that it does a kid harm. 1,- To go through a losing season, not to mention 0 wins and getting blown out in most games. 2. After a winless, 1 or 2 win season to be "Rewarded" by the KHSAA by being sent to have to play a District Champion at their place the playoffs.

Someone Please tell me the benefit to anyone of this ?

Question for RAM, Doc or anyone that may know ..... I am not sure how long of a drive it is for Phelps but hasn't Raceland and/or the Rams TD clb-boosters offered to and had food, place to rest for their opponent in other years. I know that one season we provided Nicholas County our facilities, field to work out / go through their walk through before they went to play the school in Westwood.

Raceland I believe has offered, done some things like feeding a team that had a very long trip before and was just wondering if anything like this was n the works ?

Not sure but I believe that's what is planned, maybe a very quick 3-4 TD lead - then JV to get it past 35pts. and the Freshmen the rest of the way.

I do believe we have provided pizza to a team before. Not 100%, but confident.

No argument here. It's ridiculous, and I used to be one of those in the crowd of "Well, Basketball and baseball let everybody go, why not football."

 

There is absolutely nothing good that comes from these 4/1 games. Outside of maybe 2-3 three of them & that's stretching it.

The Raceland Touchdown Club always offers to feed opposing teams that have to travel very far. Normally, we always fed the team after the game prior to them departing for home.

Ironton fan here and first I want to say Good Luck Rams in the playoffs you are a solid team than can make some noise in the playoffs if not win it all.

That being said I agree having playoffs set up where your in divisional set isn't fair or good.

I know people in Ohio hate the playoff set up there due to their team getting left out for a very weak schedule but it is the fairest there is so far.

Earn your way in and prove yourself is the attitude.

Yes some teams 4-6 made the playoffs but they was teams that could win it all.

Ironton almost did at 5-5 ended up state runner ups but had a chance to win it all.

Raceland plays good teams I admit and not only wins but holds their own.

But when you are forced to play teams by the state for district reasons is another matter.

Yes I will also agree if they was allowed to join a conference with other schools in Ohio and Kentucky and maybe even WV you will have bad teams to every year.

But at least they would have the chance to get honors and a conference tittle after 10 games.

And maybe play another team that earned it's way in the playoffs and not a 0-9-1 team that just got lucky because 4 out of 4 was allowed in.

Raceland is a very good team but playing a team by default like this isn't fair to them.
