What is the latest on this job? I would assume Coach Hicks is just wanting a change of scenery and Williamsburg will be the big challenge his is looking for. Given enough time and energy he can have the Jackets competitive with the smaller schools in the region in a couple of seasons...Who knows he may sneak up on the super power every three to five years as well.. at any rate it will be a big challenge for him if he is indeed the chosen one. Something tells me there is still a name or two that may apply before everything is decided. Guess we will all have to wait and see what happens.

Heard from a friend that the job is wide open, but Williamsburg is being very careful to make sure that they get the best man for the job.

Glad to hear that they did not rush the search. I think the decision makers have handled this situation very well. I look for the Jackets to have a Hard- working, young and energetic Coach in place within the next two weeks. :dancingpa

I think that they would have to make a decision soon before summer comes, my friend willl not tell me anything though. I have heard on another site that Rick Jones might be in for the interview.

Rick Jones will interview for the Wburg job.

He would be a good choice but it might be hard to leave Greenup for this job.

I agree!!

If Coach Hicks wants the job, I can't imagine that they wouldn't grab him while he is in town.

Maybe the Jackets have found someone that is a better fit for their situation. I would think they want someone who will be willing to stay for a while and develop their young talent. I look for the Jackets to be much improved next season. Summer camp and off season programs have been missing from the basketball team for the last few seasons. With these things in place, the team will perform much better when the season rolls around. Rick Jones would be an excellant coach in JacketLand.

Maybe Williamsburg is still considering two hires: a young talented energetic head coach and an older more experienced mentor. Regardless of who they hire, it should be done soon. Williamsburg has a very young team and they need to be in the gym and weight room working.

You are on the right track Mutt. I think the young energetic Head Coach is a good call. Look for the Jackets to win 10 games next year and give your Colonels a run for the number 3 seed in the 50th district. The key will be to tap into some of the athletes from the football team. If Frazier, Jeffries and Hamblin play the Orange and White will be much improved. Good Luck to the new Jacket leader. :thumb:
