Yes he played at Kentucky....QB if I am not mistaken. I saw several of his games although he was standing on the sideline while Derrick Ramsey was the star QB.

Started his junior year until he hurt his shoulder and never played at UK again. Finished his schooling at Western Kentucky.

 

Mike was a tremendous all-around athlete in his day!

MountainMutt you have a very strong opinion and are very supportive of Whitley County which I have no problem with. But for you to have the nerve to make the statement, "Where is the party going to be when we win state?" at the meeting of Coach Deaton was just not needed. I know you were just being supportive and all, but these kids have NO shot at winning a state title. Dont' put this kind of brainwash in their heads.

I think Coach Deaton and Corbin were a match made in heaven and would loved for him to stay here forever. I am a huge fan of his and will continue to be. Yeah going to a rival is a little sore but its not like Pitino to UL sore. It would be more like Pitino to Arkansas. I'm just glad that Coach Deaton has decided to coach again. At this point I am not sure you can compare Whitley to anything but a bad soap opra, with all the turns and twists that program has taken. I would say it is more like Mel Gibson taking a bit part on "As the World Turns" or Arnold becoming Gov. of California....Oops that happened. Maybe there is hope for Whitley County.

Talk to Mike Deaton, I am sure he will have some idea of that, he has scouted them and sees something worth taking a chance on. I am sure he already has some surprising stuff lined up.

Deaton will be full of surprises for the Colonels....and their fans....never one to let things get boring or routine...he is always looking for something new and exciting....I am sure he will thrill the Colonel faithful to no end......great Coach and great person.....I am sure he will have a few surprises up his sleeves.....lol

Whitley will win several more games next year, but they would have with Guffy at the helm to. The big task for Coach Deaton is getting everybody on the same page, including the players, coaches, administration and also the coaches from some of the other sports. If that happens, how long will it take before they can compete with South Laurel and Corbin?
