October 22, 201411 yr It's a great debate IMO about who is better - Manning or Brady. Both are great and football will miss them both when they hang it up. I would pick Brady (especially if I had to win a playoff game)and others would pick Manning...again, not a real right or wrong answer. I do think it is funny that people forget that Belichick was NOT considered a good coach before Brady. In his first six seasons (which is a pretty large sample size) he had five losing seasons. Then Brady got there and he has not had one since. The fact that he went 11-5 the year Brady got hurt is definitely a plus for him in my book. I think he is a very good coach but wonder if he would be a HOF coach without Brady...

When comparing stats like completion percentage and passer rating, remember Peyton played in a dome the vast majority of his career. Brady played in a cold weather, outdoor stadium. Plus, Manning had three road games every year at division foes Houston, Tennessee and Jacksonville...nice weather cities. Brady had to go to the Jets (windiest stadium in the NFL) and Buffalo every year. I do admit that Peyton is putting up great numbers in Denver as well but if he played his entire career in NE, his completion percentage would have to go down and Brady's would go up if he played his entire career in a dome...

You need 350 yards? I got you. You need 250 yards I got you. Need 189 yards and a clutch third and long conversion to ice the game? I got you. It seems like no matter what you can always count on Brady. I always viewed Peyton Manning as the ultimate student of the game. His cerebral approach is something I don't think I have seen before in my lifetime. When it came to being the ultimate quarterback he did everything he could possibly do to be as prepared as possible to play his position. It's like watching him be an artist on the field. It's something to be appreciated. I'm not saying he didn't have the fire Brady has but the difference between the two is how they approached the game and how they approached playing their position. Regardless of whether people like or hate either player we have all been fortunate to be able to watch their careers. Two extremely special players.

A buddy and I were talking about him years ago and he called Brady an assassin - sort of like Jordan. Brady has that pretty boy look but will rip your heart out and hand it to you to win a game. I agree with your thoughts about Manning too. He has always had a decent arm (not great but good) but his cerebral approach makes him one of the very best to ever play.
