I actually thought that of all units (minus special teams) the unit that played the best was the DLine... Dunlap made some plays. The D tackles pushed the pocket a bit. Now, we didn't play the run well. But we had Dimanche and Flowers back there a majority of the game, neither of which with significant game experience.

 

Of all units, I thought the O Line was most disappointing. They have been good all year and then just laid an egg yesterday.

 

They need to get Hill more touches. They're going to get Gio killed.

3 tackles and 4 assists for the season. Not sure what you're seeing, but he was non existent yesterday. I know from reading your posts with HB that you are not strictly a cold hard facts kind of guy, which sometimes I do agree with you. But eventually we have to take notice of production numbers.

 

Actually I have no problem with cold hard facts. However in discussions with HB he hated the facts thing last year and got mad. So with him I didn't realize we were using cold hard facts unless it suited him. Now as for this I am not disagreeing that Geno is not what he use to be. We definitely need him to play better. I am just stating that I do see him actually doing better now than what he did to start the year. He is starting to get that push up the middle again. Now is he doing anything after that initial push? No. However that is still more than what he did to start this season, that is why I said he is progressing and getting better. Which you are right because just because he may be doing better than he was to start the year, it still isn't helping.

I don't think anyone is mistaking the defense for playing 'good' but they weren't 'bad' either. They had a few plays that would have had an impact had the offense not been totally inept.

 

Exactly! I think if the offense plays well at all, then it would have shown more that the defense actually didn't play that bad. Wasn't great, but it wasn't bad and they still held the Colts lower than their normal scoring average.

Agree again! Yesterday the D-line was actually putting pressure on the QB like they use to and collapsing the pocket. That is my point on Geno, because even though he still didn't have the stats to show it. He is playing better and getting more of a push than he was to start the year.

And while I'm at it, we miss Michael Johnson. It's not that Wallace Gilberry hasn't been good, it's that Wallace Gilberry has stepped in well for Michael Johnson and no one has stepped in well for Wallace Gilberry.

I think Gilberry is a better pass rusher than Johnson, however he doesn't give us as much against the run as we are seeing this year.

What is obvious with the loss of Johnson, more so than Gilberry, is Johnson never got the credit he deserved for being the best run stopper on the D-Line. Dunlap has done a good job, but now that Johnson is gone, we see who the real run-stopper was on this line.

True! Which I admit I am one of those who didn't realize how big Johnson was against the run game. He definitely was big for us against the run, and that is now definitely evident.
