Meg Martin from NCC is a decent goalie. She isn't tested with difficult shots often. Her defense (usually Ruthie Barth and Ansley Davenport) don't let many open shots through to her.

She was well protected last year as well and when the Defense lost it's Sweeper for the Notre Dame game in Regionals due to an injury, the Panda's scored multiple goals. I caught that game by chance last year and thought NDA might have 10 by half.

 

Defense is the backbone of a solid team, the unsung heroes, the workhorses.

 

 

I was very impressed with the size and movement of the HHS goalie for just a Freshman.

I think Meg is better than "decent". Meg is a very good keeper and one of the best in NKY. She is outsanding stopping balls that require her to lay out for to either side. She does have very good defenders in Ruthie and Ansley, but that does not diminish what Meg does between the pipes.

Some of the best keepers play on the worst teams. Stats can't show this. Not even by shots on goal. A good defender will narrow the shooting angle and make a keepers save easier. There are no stats for that. The only way to judge is to watch that keeper. It isn't just her stopping ability either. Her communication and game awareness can also be a huge impact on a team.

Trackstar if you would put Meg Martin in the decent catagory, who in Northern Kentucky do you say is good. Ncc in the last 4 games has not let up a goal except in penalty kicks and that was against Campbell County, Highlands, St. Henry, and Ryle. All in the top 25 in the state. Yes Ncc has a very good defense in front of her but she made some big saves in all those games.

I think the NCC goalie is good. Especially side to side. I prefer the vertical goalie too though. She would start for most NKY teams. She'd be 3rd string at Highlands or NDA though.

Come on hog, you are better than this. Martin is a nice keeper and she would be in the mix at keeper on any team in the state of Kentucky.

She is good. I just think Highlands is blessed with 2 excellent keepers. Somebody woukd have to move to the field.

If she played every game like last night, she's definitely in the mix anywhere.
