October 14, 201411 yr McConnell blames 17 rillion loan debt on our poor economy now. Says bill passed in 2013 has helped stabilized interest rates.
October 14, 201411 yr ALG putting a lot of emphasis on her record in her closing statement and says she is the only one with a job plan.
October 14, 201411 yr McConnell says he will be the hardest working senator for his state and for the better of Kentuckians.
October 14, 201411 yr McConnell's closing statement was worse than his performance in the debate. My goodness, I am just stunned at how bad McConnell came across. I don't know if debates win or lose votes but Grimes has to be overjoyed with how this went for her tonight.
October 14, 201411 yr ALG really tried to emphasize that the McConnell only benefited himself with the senate job and not Kentucky. McConnell did try to portray that ALG is an Obama supporter and Becker but he seemed to move away from that a bit in the debate despite the ads that were leading up to this.

I don't know if debates win or lose votes but Grimes has to be overjoyed with how this went for her tonight. I thought McConnell had an alright debate but that closing statement was indeed very poor. Didn't say much really except saying that someone said he is the hardest working senator in the nation and left it at that.
October 14, 201411 yr I disagree fundamentally with ALG over several issues especially on the minimum/living wage discussion but I thought she came off well.
October 14, 201411 yr I do think Grimes helped herself on the coal issue in this debate. On style and presentation, Grimes clearly won. Otherwise, I think the issues will divide votes along party lines for the most part. Based on what I saw tonight, Grimes needs to put out some TV ads with her talking directly to the voters. She really handled herself well and is a forceful speaker.

I'd give her more of a "push" on the coal issue but she definitely didn't hurt herself especially with her talk on coal miner benefits and the balancing of the coal industry with climate change.
October 14, 201411 yr By the way Show Stopper, great job on the play by play during the debate. :thumb:
October 14, 201411 yr If you believe twitter and the National pundits on it ,ALG apparently was better than expected but most agree McConnell won. I didn't watch but just reading through twitter timeline.

I didn't watch but just reading through twitter timeline. Surprising. I guess I was just so stunned by McConnell's sleepy monotone that I missed some of the impact of what he said.
