I'm saying of a kid doesn't go to camps etc he won't get noticed period. Then ones who may attend camps etc but don't have D-1 size will be overlooked by D-1 schools all the time even if they are better players than the ones getting D-1 offers.

You've got to get yourself on the radar somehow. College scouts save a lot of time and travel by doing much of their work in camps. Gone are the days where they look at all conference/all state teams. Many of their visits are focused on the kids they see in camps. And as was said, if you don't have the right size/speed etc, it gets even tougher.

Exactly. That is what I've been preaching on here for years.

 

If you don't get to camps/combines your chances of getting noticed are slim to none.

I will say this. If you dont meet the height weight they are looking for at a position they dont care how good you are. A 6'1 190 TE will never get an offer as a TE. Now I do think they offer the top players in the state with the size/speed to play at that level. All I was was saying is you dont just show up at a camp as a big guy and get an offer.

This is why they look at that first and foremost. They cant go off of film only. What if the kid plays bad competition? What if a HS WR is very fast tall but his team runs 90% of the time? On the filp side you have a kid who is shorter slower but has 100 rec. at the end of the year. Is he better?

I didn't say Stokes or Burns should be listed as one of the top 26. You misunderstood what I was saying. I was saying they have been more of a consistent WR's for Beechwood and your boy is a better LB is all.

YOU, misunderstood this tread, it's the TOP 26 NKY Football Players at each position, not a Beechwood Thread, to talk about the Beechwood players in everyone of your post.. How is Slusher my boy? He's a very good player, but he's not my boy.

Having seen Mr. Hedger play, he is going to play tackle in college, no doubt, do you think he will be red-shirted in his first year at AP, is it?, to get bigger?

 

If he plays tackle he needs to gain 70 pounds. I know they like him at TE. Coach Cannon wants him at 250. He pick AP because they sold him the idea of playing TE. They like the 2nd level blocking and use the TE much like Dixie. Fits into the offense. Now what happens in the next 4 5 years i don't know.

You aren't making much sense, sorry. We were pointing out that you had Slusher as one of the top WR's in the list you had for NKY top 26 players. We pointed out that he isn't even the top WR on his own team at Beechwood and was a better LB than WR and if you were going to have him on the list, LB would be the spot that made most sense. How can a player be on the top 26 players as a WR if the other 2 WR's in front of him on his very own team aren't on there?

 

I'm a Cooper guy, I was simply talking about the better WR's on BW than Slusher is all because you listed him. If you notice I mentioned ARmstrong, who isn't a Beechwood guy in my very first post. Sorry to get you upset, but you posted this list, you shouldn't post it if you didn't expect to have comments on it.

You're just upset, because the ONLY Cooper player who would be on this list is Mr. Watson, who very much should be. BTW, you DON'T rest one of your better players against SK, just because of injuries to other players, this isn't the NFL, just an excuse so YOUR player looks better on paper. Mr. Cordell is a very nice player, he's not ahead of Mr.Powell, or Mr.England on this list, sorry. Now go back to your Cooper treads.

I could understand it, I understood it from the very start. You were the one who felt you needed to clarify it and when you did made the mistake of saying it was the top 26 at each position.

 

You should have said the top 26 players covering all the positions.

 

Also Billy, I'm not upset at all, actually wasn't even thinking anything wrong with the list just putting in my opinion was all. It does however seem that you have become very upset and I don't understand why.

Trust me, I'm not upset at all. It's your list and 100% your opinion. That doesn't make it right or wrong, it just makes it your own personal list.

 

The one thing however I don't understand is if you didn't want any opinions, then why did you post it? I mean seriously lol, I am missing something I guess. Maybe you should have posted it and asked a mod to close the thread so no one could reply. Don't get upset buddy, I have no problem with your list knowing it's simply your opinion. That's awesome.

 

Also, it may serve you right to go through my posts and re-read them, it wasn't me talking about the games Armstrong rested etc. it was another poster, so if you have a problem with him feel free to bring it up with that person. Not me.
