Bengals would have lost if it was a 1 PM Sunday game against the Pats. They have some goofy off the chart record at home against AFC teams in October. Add in their tendency to not those consecutive games etc and Bengals missing VB at linebacker and it just did not add up although honestly it should have been a lot closer.

2 more primetime games this season at least, against Cleveland and Denver.

They "might" do OK with Cleveland, but just like facing Brady, they won't do well against Manning either. Those two guys are just die hard winners, especially in the spotlight that take teams like the Bengals to school.

I would love for someone to do the research and find the record Marvin has against teams with a winning record.

I'm not talking about winning record at the time they play but at the end of the season how many teams with a winning record did Marvin beat and how many he lost to.

I did the research a few years ago and it was almost as ugly as his prime time game record. Just curious to see how much it has improved (that includes playoff games also)

Honestly' date=' I feel they typically are matched against an inferior team in their prime-time matchups.[/quote']

Really? I never felt that way but have never given it too much thought. Who did you have in mind?

When you get beat as convincingly as they did, there is a lot of blame. I am not sure Prime Time has as much to do with this one. I listen to Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller a lot on Sirius NFL Network and they always bring up something that I observe to hold true to form most of the time.

It takes NFL coaches about 3-4 games to figure out teams and player tendencies. With two new coordinators it may be that the Pats had 3 games to figure out key tendencies. On defense, it absolutely looked like they knew exactly what the Bengals were going to do. The coaching part of this that was a major fail was that on Bye weeks teams self scout. Maybe they didn't do that well enough or just thought until someone stops what we do offensively and defensively, lets keep doing it. EVERY coaching staff will figure out your tendencies after a while.

Did Burfict being out affect the play of the defense? I think it obviously, yes. Did his absence affect he outcome? No.

I, like many, believe that the Bengals walked into a Perfect Storm and they were in a dinghy last night.
