Are there more Mason Co. or Pendelton Co......

Featured Replies

Got to be Mason fans, for at least the time I've been on here!! Of course, that does coincide with a nice, multi-year run by the Royals!!

You mean as much as you talk about the Wildcats on this site, you have only cheered for them for the last two years? That is a sign of a typical frontrunning fan!

Who are you going to cheer for next season or tonight even since the mighty 'cats have fallen? Montgomery County????????????

NO I mean there are more PC fans on bluegrass preps during the last two years because of the teams we have had. I have been supporting PC basketball since the early 90's. During Wood, Feldhaus, Kendell, and Appleman I have been at al most every home game won or lose. There are a lot of as you call frontrunning fans. It will be sad next year when all the support is gone. As for tonight, I pick GRC because I think they are the underdog in the fieldhouse.

If Pendleton Co. is ranked in the top 5 in the state in the next twenty years send me a PM and I will buy you a steak dinner and a cold drink at your favorite establishment.

Pendleton Co. has, or had, a special group of local kids to go along with a transplanted all-stater.

Odds are they will never see the type of success on the state level again. The talent is just not there. No offense.

What do you mean the talent is not there? How do you know the talent in Pendleton County that will occur in the next 20 years. Kids playing for Pendleton in 20 years aren't even born yet, so this is an unreasonble, uneducated assumption. There's a lot of parity in high school basketball, I would not be surprised to see them back in the next 2 decades.

Excellent post!! You said what I was going to. The statements by Rolls-Royce and Martinez, you can tell they are uneducated!! Like they know what kind of talent is here or going to be here. Come on people think before you type. I am also not saying that they will be as good as have been in the coming years, but how the he$$ does anybody know what they are going to be from one year to the next, alot of things can happen!

Historically Pendleton doesn't have the consistant talent pool to choose from that other larger schools may have. But just like the Elliott kid, when families and players relocate, who knows Pendleton could be a power again sooner than you might think.

Can you say consolidation? Believe it or not there are people on here that remember when Mason did not have the strongest program in the Region. Since 1981 when they won their 1st Regional Title, yes they have had a nice run. The consolidation with Maysville didn't hurt either, for many of those titles that's where their talent pool came from. But, that's life and the rest of the 10th will survive. So to say tradition, I would qualify tradition with a little than is being brought to the table(many teams have traditions, but it occured way more than 25 yrs. ago). Yes, Mason is good with a very strong program, but traditions?

Sounds like a typical reponse form Gimel.

History shows that schools who are winning typically are more loud and proud during times of success. Nothing wrong with that.

PC will probably never have success like they have seen over the last three year ever again. It is understandable that they have a ton of fans on here now.

But I think you will see that when things turn back to normal for Pendleton Co. that there are way more Mason County fans on this board. Mason Co. has a tradition surpassed by few in this state, and their success brings a much larger, loyal fan base. As a result, Mason Co. posters will always be on this board, and when they are successful their numbers will only increase.

When you look at what can happen, our seniors won the 10th region tourney as freshman, and did not even get out of district!! A lot can change.

You are right Camel1 alot can happen, such as moving schools from district to district or in some cases, region to region. More things seem to come in to play over a period of time and not just the players are involved.

Maybe Pendleton this year because Mason has had a bad year by their standards. Not close in a typical year however, Mason has one of the best followings in the state.

And that following will be evident on Thursday in Rupp Arena.

That being said, Region 10 always travels well to Rupp, but I have heard many times that the KHSAA, as well as Lexington itself, is always happy when Mason County represents the 10th.

As far as MC vs. PC fans on this board, only time will tell.
