Should Ashland's Coach Love be worried?

Featured Replies

You're funny. Can you name any of the kids that play for Ashland? Other than Baker? Who's the starting linebacking crew? How about the tightend or right guard? I'll be waiting.

I absolutely can't. Like I told you in the past I live about 4 hours away and am not an Ashland fan. 4:07 and 271 miles away to be exact.

OK. So, you have no first hand info of any of the issues discussed here. No clue what's transpired, unless you're really interested in perusing HUDL to brush up on your Tomcat football. Instead, you try to discredit anyone on here with a first hand account and opinion of Ashland's situation. You keep doin' you, this is great.

Would it make everybody feel better if I talked to Coach Love and even though I dont understand the schemes sometimes, I will encourage him to work hard? Or have I done this? Who knows? I live too close to Ashland to know what is going on. Heck I live too close to even know what is going on behind the scenes. Ah well maybe I can help some team in Western KY.

I know 2 FACTS. A. Love is in his 2nd year. B. Publicly criticizing the program influences the kids on the team.

I went along with the stupid joke about my own thread for several days and let the thread slowly sink down the page and you have brought it back twice. I have touched a nerve with you and others that you apparently can't let go.

First, thanks for the concern and hope that a thread about Ashland's coach would just fade away. Second, you haven't touched any of my nerves. I've enjoyed your posts. I don't understand your concern over Ashland when it's obvious by your distance you must be in western KY, but that's cool. Either way, when you coach kids you're not remotely free from public opinion. Coaches don't stay in one place for too long for a myriad of reasons. God, I hope one of them isn't because of message board scorn.
This one may get good after all  .

With all the outrage, and most by some people that are just jumping on the pile / playing follow the leader and don't really know a friggin' thing about it then I would say Yes, he probably should be worried.

I know that Ashland does have a lot of talent and should have a better record but I am not close enough to their program to make an opinion on if only a 2nd year coach should be fired. Everything cannot be All the head coaches fault but he is the one that gets the blame, its that way everywhere and goes with the position. As a head coach it is his job to do everything he can to fix it. I personally would think that there is plenty enough blame to go around, jmo.

Also, I don't think that there has ever been, in the history of football at any level, anywhere that there weren't some complaining about the coach. Paul "Bear" Bryant probably had a few idiots somewhere complaining about him :isurrender:.

I have nothing but respect for the Tomcat program and pull for them in every game except the one vs. Raceland. I will say this about some of the comments I have heard.......Dickie Martin is arguably The Best play by play man in our area.......the end. IF Martin is hiring and firing coaches and / or influencing the people that actually do then Ashland, you do have problems. I just wish that Raceland could have had one more possession in that 4th qtr. and imo the Tomcats would have had another loss. That however, falls in the "if - if and buts were candy and nuts we would all have a merry Christmas".

Good Luck Tomcats :thumb:.

BTW....Where is LRCW on this thread ? :idunno:

I'm sitting back and reading. Don't really have much to say. Like I've stated earlier I don't want to see Coach Love lose his job. I don't want to see anyone lose his job. I just want to see Ashland be successful.

How often did I complain or comment about some of Dusty's managing decisions in the Reds threads? Did Bob Castellini read those threads, and think "Wow, I've got to get rid of Dusty because this LRCW guy thinks he's making some stupid deicsions? I wonder how often it influenced Votto and Bruce?

That's really smart comparing High School kids being influenced by the community with PRO Athletes. I see the light now.

And it's really smart thinking that high school kids are influenced by anything I type on here. Now I can see kids being influenced by a parent telling the kids at home after a game that their coach is stupid, and doesn't know what he's doing, but nothing I type on here is going to influence one of the players in any way.

I think the short answer to the thread question is yes. Ashland is talented enough to win any game due to their big play ability. That is what allowed them to beat Raceland IMO. With the athletes they have in the backfield they will always be a threat to score from anywhere on the field. Ashland's problem right now seems to me that they are not very physical. Russell lined up and ran right at Ashland (granted it was out of a spread type formation but it was nothing fancy) and Ashland had no answer. When you are in a district with Johnson Central and your line play is weak you will struggle. Ashland needs big wins against one of the weakest districts in the state in preparation for what should be the district championship at Paintsville to help Ole Mo get back on their side.

If I were an Ashland fan I would be upset with the season so far and the state of the program. Ashland is one of the proudest programs in EKY and rightfully so, but they are more often than not being defeated by other area schools (Russell & Raceland specifically) and seem to come up short in their district more often than not against Johnson Central. If I were a Tomcat I would not settle for 2nd place as acceptable.

Your therapist would tell you the nerve that was struck actually belongs to you. Why? Becuase your only angle on this thread is to stop criticizing the coaches. You dont like the armchair observations. My CSI brains says "Why doesnt he like this?" Hmmmmmmmm....... Did this happen to him? Honestly I dont give a rat's hind end what you think about me. I just like a little confrontation every now and then. In the end, I dont see myself as a bad guy though and as proof I will give you a third fact for your collection. I did send an encouraging word to Coach Love this week. It just wasnt on here because I dont think he believes coaches should be on here.
