September 11, 201412 yr I don't need to read the article if it says he did a great job and they give him a passing grade for that game. I watched the game, I know what I saw. I don't need an article to tell me what I saw. You are so stuck on 1 game, the Super Bowl and you refuse to look at the rest of his career. So for you you only look at .0001% of his career and discard everything else so how do you expect anyone to carry on a conversation about Eli's performance seriously with you? Let me ask you something since you are so dependent on an article to tell you what you saw. Why do you even watch the Giants games? You apparently just told me you don't understand what you are actually seeing so you have to read articles about the game to actually understand what happened in the game. Apparently when I watch a game, I already know how the teams played and the outcome after the game without having to read an article re-hashing what went on. Something else you seem to forget. All QB's have receivers drop passes yet they don't consistently throw as many INT's as Eli does nor do they have ratings as low as Eli consistently does. Everyone wants to blame their WR's to protect their QB's, I just thought you were past that phase, I guess I was wrong. The reason you need to read the article is because you clearly don't understand football. The article only confirmed what I said before reading it. The fact that you refuse to read it shows me you have no interest in differing points of view from people who probably know far more than you do. I'm not stuck on one game (it's actually two). I've pointed out he holds records for most 4th quarter come backs in a season. He holds the record for most 4th qtr td passes in a season. He holds the record for most road wins in a season and playoff by a qb. He holds the record for most passing yards in the playoffs. He's the Giants all time passing leader. He's lead the franchise with 4 super bowls and multiple NFL championships to not one but two of those championships. He's won two super bowl mvps. Eli has never been a numbers guy. He never needed to be in the Giants offense because that wasn't their offense. They don't play like the Saints or Broncos. They run the ball, do their best to keep it close because no matter what stage the game is on (season, playoffs, super bowls) Eli can win it. Eli was not the problem Monday night. I don't know how anyone could watch they game and think that. Dan Graziano, the Giants reporter for ESPN who never seems to write good things about the Giants even said the blame for Monday doesn't fall on Eli. Eli didn't play great last year. He also wasn't as bad as his numbers indicate. But to say he's been bad his entire career his simply wrong. His Qb rating, which I believe is a garbage start anyways but you seem to love, was 87.2, 92.9, 85.3, 93.1, 86.4 the five years before last year. What was different those years? The offensive line was good.
September 11, 201412 yr No room for you guys on my Blake Bortles band wagon. Don't make me go back through last years threads to see which of you guys called him a bum and said Bridgewater was the better QB. He's the QB on my favorite team. I'm allowed to bypass all rules :lol2:
September 11, 201412 yr Wasn't me, I personally thought Bridgewater would be a flop, but I could be wrong there and I will be the first to admit it. Bortles however, how could he not start week 1 after the way he performed in pre season? The reason is he not starting has absolutely nothing at all to do with him. He is going to be the face of the franchise for the next 15 years. Yes right now he is already better than Henne. Everyone is. The issue is right now the pieces around him are not ready. All 5 pieces of the offensive line right now are new or rookies. Along with 3 rookie WR. They are trying to give the line some time to gel, along with the WR's some moving along time. They are letting Henne take the beating right now. No reason at all to start him. I do believe he will be starting during the time they play the Bengals. At the latest after theit bye week.

The offensive line was good. I did you a favor and read the article. No new light was shed on his performance. There is a large portion of the article talking about how bad his interceptions were. By the way, he was as bad as his numbers indicated last year. Don't worry, I get it you are so blinded by your man crush on Eli you will never say a negative thing about him. Just you saying he wasn't as bad last year as his numbers indicated tells me everything I need to know about your slanted take on Eli. Funny though you mention last year and his bad numbers because I pointed out before last year how he was avg at best and most of the time below avg. Then last season happened
September 11, 201412 yr Its kind of nice being on the outside looking in on this argument lol. I have been in the same position as Halfback20 back in the Carson Palmer days when I was trying defend him and people said it was just excuses, and obviously me and Hellbird have had our fair share of disagreements lol. So this is nice just sitting back and reading it and not being in it.

Then last season happened Now I'm worried about your reading comprehension skills. I can see Eli for what he is. You see him as a bad QB, which simply isn't true. Anyone that watched MNF with half a brain could see that the offensive line and wide receivers were beyond bad. As for him being average or below average most years...well his numbers do not support that. Nor does the fact that he has been to multiple pro bowls, won multiple playoff games, multiple NFC championships and multiple super bowls (MVPs to!). I don't expect you to ever agree. I will say this. I'll take my QB and the two super bowls I've seen him win all day. Much better than failing to win in the playoffs year after year after year....and before that being the doormat of the NFL year after year. :walk:
September 11, 201412 yr Can we throw in Bortles? 1. Bortles There needs to be a BGP Rule - any time you mention Bortles, you must provide a picture of his girlfriend.
September 11, 201412 yr There needs to be a BGP Rule - any time you mention Bortles, you must provide a picture of his girlfriend. Only if I can mention Bortles in every single post I ever make
September 11, 201412 yr I decided to do some research beyond the QBR ratings for the 5 years prior to last years bad season. Eli Manning: 2008 QBR: 86.4 (Rank - 13th) Touchdowns: 21 (Rank - 10th) Yards: 3,238 (Rank 17th) 2009 QBR: 93.1 (Rank - 11th) Touchdowns: 27 - (Rank - 8th) Yards: 4,021 (Rank - 10th) 2010 QBR: 85.3 (Rank - 19th) Touchdowns: 31 (Rank -4th) Yards: 4,002 - (Rank - 5th) 2011 QBR: 92.9 - (Rank - 7th) Touchdowns: 29 - (Rank - 6th) Yards: - 4933 (Rank - 4th) 2012 QBR: 87.2 - (Rank - 15th) Touchdowns: - 26 - (Rank - 9th) Yards 3,948 - (Rank 12th) Looks like some of his numbers were around average (QBR mostly) but he was always top 10 in touchdowns and around the top 10 or 15 in yards. Add in two super bowl wins, his records, and his pro bowls....and he doesn't look "average" or "below average most of the time".

I'm a huge QB guru I along with you don't put QB Rating as the deciding factor and definitely ignore ESPN QBR because I haven't spent much time looking into it My #1 indicator has always been completion % Then look at TD's and INTs Then YPC I notice you skipped my top 2 indicators compl% and INTs Last 5 years 2013 57% Compl and 27 INT 2012 59% Compl and 15 INT 2011 61% Compl and 16 INT 2010 62% Compl and 25 INT 2009 62% Compl and 14 INT So in last 5 seasons he's had only 1 year with less than 15 INT's and never over 63% compl in a passing favorable league yet still has a below 60% Compl for career To give you an idea of other QB's in the League Last year alone there were 32 QB's with higher Compl % Than Eli's highest Compl% last 5 years. Yes some only threw a couple passes but you get the idea 2012 27 Qb's better 2011 25 You get the idea

Yes some only threw a couple passes but you get the idea 2012 27 Qb's better 2011 25 You get the idea Where did you get the 27 QB's better than him in 2012? In 2012 he had a completion percentage of 59.9. He threw the ball 536 times. Of QB's who threw the ball over 300 times, he had 15 QB's ahead of him. Basing it on QB's who played around a full season (or at least 300 or more passes) let's look at the numbers. 2012 - 59.9 (16th) 2011 - 61.0 (13th) 2010 - 62.9 (9th) 2009 - 62.3 (13th) 2008 - 60.3 (18th) Interceptions: 2012 - 15 (20th) 2011 - 16 (17th) 2010 - 25 (worst) 2009 - 14 (12th) 2008 - 10 (7th) FWIW Drew Brees has had years with 15, 18, 17, 22, 19 interceptions since being with the Saints so interceptions alone don't always tell the entire story, nor does completion percentage. Let's also take a look at Eli's two super bowl runs, since a lot of people make the claim that the defense alone won those super bowls. 2007 - 72/119 - 60.9%, 854 yards, 6 TD's, 1 INT - Rate - 95.7 2011 - 106/163 - 65%, 1,219 yards (NFL Record), 9 Touchdowns, 1 Interception - Rate - 103.3 I guess the below average QB got lucky during those world championship runs. Should I post Andy's playoff stats for a comparison?
September 12, 201412 yr I got my stats from NFL.com I know you love Eli. I already acknowledged your man crush on him and that is fine. I just wish you would once I awhile step back from you bias and actually look at what he actually is and that is avg to below avg QB more times than not. He isn't top tier or even 2nd tier QB. He is 3rd tier QB along with Dalton and crew. That's it.
September 12, 201412 yr As far as you saying he got lucky in those 2 SB's. I say he played great in the 2nd one. First one however heck yes he got lucky. If not for a miracle catch against tyree's helmet Eli would have lost. So yes luck does play a part.
