The Pac 12 is probably the best conference not called the SEC. If UCLA were to somehow slide through the season unscathed, they'll have beaten Arizona State, Oregon, USC, and Stanford. Then they'd play a Pac 12 championship game. The Pac 12 champ will have earned a bid if they get there.

With some of the bigger SEC powers rebuilding (i.e., Florida and Tennessee), Alabama being a little bit down from where they were last season, South Carolina not looking so hot out of the gate, etc., I don't think it's the biggest stretch to say that the Pac 12 is as good or better than the SEC. I think Oregon is the best team in the nation right now. The SEC probably has more depth at the bottom since some of the schools who'll be pushed there are still traditional powers (if you are going to put Alabama, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, LSU, and Georgia up top in some order), but if you match them up 1-6, I'm not sure the Pac 12 doesn't take the majority.

Hard to leave Oklahoma out, but hard to argue with any of the teams you have in there either.

I'll take FSU and Oregon but for me I'm subbing in Auburn and Oklahoma at the other two spots.

I'm not buying Oklahoma based on two wins against La Tech and Tulsa.

 

If your predicting the final 4 they are a good pick due to lame schedule, but even with their schedule I don't think they run the table.

 

Auburn is a curiosity, I just think that the SEC West is so tough it is hard to forecast a winner right now.

Wisconsin doesn't worry me, they played LSU close, if they manage to go 12-1 I can live with them being one of the 4. UCLA will still have to beat USC and a few other decent Pac12 teams to have a shot. Undefeated or not I don't see anyone outside the Mormons rallying for an undefeated BYU to be in.

 

If MSU doesn't win the BIG 10, I will be shocked. They ran out of gas against Oregon, but looked really good for about 3 1/2 quarters.

A Power Five split coupled with what's inevitably going to happen because of the O'Bannon case is going to make things interesting. Pair both of those things up with what I believe is about to become a growing sentiment spreading beyond Northwestern for collective bargaining (or at least some sort of representative organization advocating for college players).

 

There are almost too many factors at play to even begin to try and figure out what college athletics will look like two decades from now.

I would prefer the BCS system that combined a lot of systems/rankings. 13 people that includes some that are not huge college football experts is not my idea of a way to determine the 4 teams. The NCAA b-ball tourney has a committee but they are deciding between the 31st and 32nd best at large team which is a big difference.

I've thought it was Oregon's time for awhile now. I always thought they were the team most likely to end the SEC's dominance. Wouldn't shock me at all to see them do well in a tournament setting. Really quick turnaround time will make it tough to prepare for their system.

I didn't think that you did? It just some of the talking heads were singing their praises on how well they were playing this year. Hey I think they have a decent shot, I just liked others better.

 

So. Carolina/Georgia game now resets the SEC East and we are back to level...either one of them is capable of winning the SEC Title now with 1 loss

Today I would go with Oregon, Florida St., Texas A&M (even though with road games at Auburn and Alabama and a home game against LSU left I'm not putting that in stone) and Auburn or Oklahoma

 

Auburn and Kansas St Thursday Night should/could be a great game!
