"When the Game Stands Tall"

Anyone planning on seeing it this weekend? My son has a tourney all weekend, but if we can shoe-horn in time for the movie (read: if they don't make the Championship Game on Sunday afternoon), we will absolutely go see it. I'm really excited for it.

^ Not this weekend, but maybe later. Let us know what you think about it if you do see it.

Me? Share an opinion on a topic? That seems unlikely and far-fetched. :wacky:

The wife is out of town this weekend so I'm flying solo.

I was thinking about after the Boone CCH game tomorrow I might go see it.

Wanted to as soon as I saw previews months back.

Could be a good one, up there with Remember the Titans.

Saw it this afternoon, really good movie as HB said a great message!

The scene at the coaches meeting looked like a BGP Thread!

How are the football scenes? Is Cazizel(I butchered the spelling) good as the Coach? It didn't open well at all at the box office. I will be seeing it later this week

Football looked good and comparing him to video of the real coach shown during the credits he looked like he did a good job.

Very good. It's not a football movie full of football scenes, it is more of a foot all movie giving life lessons.

He did really good as the coach.

I thought the same thing lol, and I would have been on the side of the coach that walked out...just sayin.

Awesome movie!!!!

Can't remember the last time I heard a theater of people erupt after a football play. It is a complete range of emotions in a good way, from tears (twice for me it got a little dusty in there), to elation. Great life lessons -- really cool movie to see with my son at the early stages of his athletic career. I've already seen too many people like Chris' Dad, and I hope it gives many of them some cause for pause.

Also, as a person who coaches young people, Coach Lad is certainly a great person to try and learn from. Love the commitment cards.

It's easy to see how they are as successful as they are if even 50% of the movie is accurate to the way they do things.

Good article in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette about what is real and what isn't. Sounds like the essence of the program portrayed is spot on.

I played for Monte Vista High School in Danville, CA. DeLaSalle was in our division. We beat them in the title game in '87 and it was as if we had won the Super Bowl. Bob Ladoceur's brother, Tom, was one of my coaches. This was a great time, they were a great team, and really looking forward to the movie.
