Most Overrated UFC Fighter

Featured Replies

Royce was one dimensional, as was all fighters at that time.

Up until 2004 almost EVERYONE in the UFC was 1-dimensional.

Current- probably Vitor Belfort. He is a TRT user that really hasn't beaten anyone in the upper echelon, yet managed to get a title shot in two divisions based on name recognition. When is the last time Vitor won a fight outside of Brasil?

All Time- take away steroids and what was Ken Shamrock, really? He fought in his prime an era when guys weren't as skilled as they are now. When he tried to step up in later years, he got owned by guys like Tito Ortiz, Ace Franklin and Sakuraba. Just sayin...

Not fair about Ken. He was much older than the rest of this bunch that was the next generation. Ken in his prime, when he was fighting in Pancreas, was a very good fighter. He just hung around too long.

How did the age impact Coture or Hendo or Matt Serra? Shamrock is also an admitted user of roids- let's not forget that part of his legacy.

I dislike GSP and was never a fan. But he should never be near an overrated list. He dominated what was the deepest division in MMA for a long period of time.

You do realize that TRT was all over the place in the UFC, and still is, legal or not.

Cutting weight your entire life does horrible things to testosterone production.

Chuck Liddell .

The first well rounded fighter?

He pretty much created "sprawl and brawl".

He is far from the only one with steroids. You going to tell me Wanderlei Silva or Mark Coleman were clean? The other guys you were not in the game at the same time and the sport had come along way with rules other changes. His second fight with Royce Gracie that ended in a draw was Ken learning and applying what he had learned from their first fight. Ken was one of the first greats in the sport not the greatest.

Not really sure what your point is here...

He was a great name, not a great MMA fighter, IMO.

Pancrease didn't even have closed fist punching when he fought, right? Again, once guys started training in multiple disciplines, he couldn't win. In my mind, the first modern MMA guy that Shamrock fought was Kaz Fujita. Look at his record from that point on and, well, it isn't very good. We can talk about age, but I pointed to guys who were very good as they got older- throw an Andersen Silva in that mix, as well.

I'm not saying other guys didn't do roids. I'm saying he is an admitted user and, no, he doesn't get a pass because others used. It impacts his legacy, IMO. Maybe it doesn't for you, but then we can agree to disagree.

How's this name???

Tank Abott

Would anyone consider him a great fighter? Would have to pass that smell test before we go with overrated, no?

I never did. I think people liked him a lot because he was such a brawler and that might have made him seem overrated.

You listed 3 guys who have used TRT or HGH to prolong their careers......
