Current:

Give me some time.

All-Time:

Tito Ortiz - beats an over the hill Shamrock and what else???

Current -

Anderson Silva.

Yes, I am going to catch a ton of crap for that, but I've said it for a little while now.

Best fighter in the worst division the UFC had for a while.

While I like Sonnen and Okami, they are not the greatest fighters in the world and their games have serious flaws.

Only real great fighter he has ever beat? Dan Henderson....because Hendo got cocky.

Next? Vitor, and he will probably never fight in the US again because of steroids.

Silva ' s striking ability keeps him from being overrated. The guy was the most accurate striker for years. Give me Benson Henderson and his ponytail.

All-Time Most Overrated: GSP

People won't get that but to me he was never as good as his image suggested. Never finished fights and would usually fight five round snoozers. He had skill don't get me wrong, but some consider him the best and for me he just wasn't there. Extremely talented and one of the most technical to ever fight but he is not the legend to me that he is to most.

I like that you all mentioned Tito, definitely waaaaaay overrated.

Against warm bodies.

Let me add, I think Silva is an ELITE striker for MMA and a solid BJJ guy.

Yeah Silva's Muay Thai and BJJ game is top notch. Hard to say he is overrated at anything, he can't help the division he was fighting in. He put a lot of great fighters to shame with some beat downs. I mean a win over Bonnar doesn't seem impressive but the fact he stopped him and made him look so foolish says a ton.

That was another name I wanted to add. I was never overly impressed with GSP, but didn't know if it was just because he wasn't very flashy and maybe I couldn't appreciate what he did because I didn't really understand the intricacies of fighting.

Can a guy with more than 3 title defenses ever be overrated? I can see over publicized, but if you beat the number 1 contender 3 times....what else do you have to do?

Current- probably Vitor Belfort. He is a TRT user that really hasn't beaten anyone in the upper echelon, yet managed to get a title shot in two divisions based on name recognition. When is the last time Vitor won a fight outside of Brasil?

All Time- take away steroids and what was Ken Shamrock, really? He fought in his prime an era when guys weren't as skilled as they are now. When he tried to step up in later years, he got owned by guys like Tito Ortiz, Ace Franklin and Sakuraba. Just sayin...

Name a great fighter outside of Henderson that he beat?

He beat a bunch of guys in that division that beat the guys in that division......that is it.

GSP is overrated, but he would own Anderson because of his wrestling and game planning......

A guy who fought Royce Gracie to a draw in UFC 5, first UFC Champion ever at UFC 6, first foreign MMA Champion in Japan.

I see where your coming from, but going 30 with Gracie and Gracie's win at UFC 1 being somewhat controversial, that's what people are probably seeing from him. Take out Gracie and he's above average, but Gracie gave him a huge rub.

If you go at Royce, then people get upset- but let's be real. Royce was a one dimensional fighter. Matt Hughes owned Royce. That is the generation of mixed martial artist that Shamrock couldn't touch. Royce is rightfully a legend because he made bjj a necessity for any MMA combatant, but he wasn't a great MMA fighter. So, in my mind, Shamrock doesn't get a ton of credit for being roided up and losing to Royce in less than a minute and then fighting a guy to a draw that you outweighed by at least 50lbs. JMO.
