Many things could go into effect with it. Parents can't afford to send the kid anymore and etc.

When parents argue that, the KHSAA asks for proof.

Cut in pay?

Cut in hours?

Major medical expense doing damage to family budget?

Kids who go from private to public, i.e. home district, usually have a hurdle to overcome. ESPECIALLY if they don't move (like in this instance).

If they don't, you're giving the kids a FREE PASS to decide they can return to their home district whenever they want for whatever reason.

That's a slippery slope.

It doesn't take much to get a financial hardship ruling for a private player to go to a public school.

I know of 2 that was ruled eligible for financial hardship and it was a joke.

I know of some too.

However, I've seen kids go from Bethlehem to Nelson and O'Cath to Owensboro and found ineligible.

Well as i stated before i had conversation with one of the coaches on the staff who i got my information from and who said he is good to go.

that is exactly what the coach is going to say because they want them to transfer.

Don't know the specifics of any of the situations you've mentioned but some things that could be going on when there's a private to public move and the kid isn't found eligible:

1. Kid has gotten in trouble at old school and would have been ineligible for sports there (i.e., sometimes kids being kicked out of a school, etc.),

2. The new school doesn't fight hard on their behalf because they don't see them as an impact player who'll be worth the trouble (i.e., toes of other parents being stepped on, etc.)

Those are two that would jump out to me.

If the rumors are true that gray's family will claim (financial hardship) they have a big up hill battle as his parents both have very good jobs.

I've seen the same thing before and the player got cleared to play.

For Jordan Gary this will be his third school in as many years. He started at Lyon County then transferred for some reason to UHA and now on to Hopkinsville. Tyler is a solid player. He is the third player in the last two years to transfer from Christian County to Hopkinsville.

The more stories like this I hear, the more I want to go with spindoc's "one free transfer, no questions asked" and then anything after being heavily scrutinized.

Go 3 for 3 and you better have a parent in the military, a petition for divorce filed in a court, a ward of the State being transferred, or some really good reason as to why you should be eligible.

I think it would be interesting to know if the parents were actually "paying" anything.

Who? My experience is that out of the dozens of Xfers over the years between Bardstown-Bethlehem-Nelson Co.-Thomas Nelson is that everyone gets approved. Seems like I'd have heard about this particular incident. I watched one kid get booted from NC, show up at Bardstown to play senior season in the fall, then return to NC for the spring semester so he/she could graduate with their buddies.

They are eligible you can see them all in action Tuesday at Hoptown high school at Greenwood. Ledonald Gray, Aj Tyler and Jordan Garrett this team will be better than hoptown has ever had including captain qualis Matlcok, sophomore cj henigan, and outstanding freshman jalen johnson and steven cager.

Wonder what HS basketball in the commonwealth would look like if the kids went to school where they are supposed to?????
