The teams who practiced in pads before Aug 1.

Hey Ref, question for you. Why the axe to grind? This and the other thread. Who do you want to see in trouble? Seems to me you have an issue with a particular team. Just sayin!

Seriously, what is the obsession with Football Camps all of a sudden?

Teams have been attending football camps for many, many, many years. One could successfully argue that the "Football Camp" is synonymous with high school, it is engrained in folklore, other then "Band Camp", it is probably the most popular camp spoke of. Movies talk about football camp, TV shows talk about football camp, just about every former football player has a "Football Camp" story.

Aside from that, the KHSAA does not have a rule against football camps, no matter what people say. IF they did, more then half the football playing schools in the state would be under investigation. High School Coaches coach at football camps. They always have, they always will. It's a source of income for many of them - high school coaches and college coaches.

Football camps are so big, there are businesses that do nothing else but hold football camps all over the country. Football camps are so important many coaches say their season is made or lost during camp. Football camps are so important that many college coaches say they find the majority of their recruits from camps.

Many players, me included, have some of their favorite high school memories from football camp. Players have experiences at football camp that they will never have anywhere else.

Why, all of a sudden, is football camp bad? What happened? Where did the football camp go wrong.

#savethecamp

You meet new people at camps, you come together with teammates at camps, and the most important thing, you get better. Football isn't football without pads. Period. Nothing wrong with camps. It's like telling bands they can't take their instruments to band camp???? It's just not right.

It's an unfair advantage to teams that can't afford or or able to go.

Let's see what type of tune you all sing when a kid dies. A parent will own the school and coach.

If any kids get hurt there then the coach is liable.

For example why does Madison Southern get the privilege of going to trooper island and scrimmaging, is the same offer for all teams who want to go.

It's called unfair privilege.

If you cheat you should get in trouble. Isn't that fair enough.

Cordia, the coach an all the players are gone, who gets punished, the ones left behind who had nothing to do with it or even get to play.

You punish a team who broke the rules then see how many are broke from here on out like that.

Life's an unfair advantage. We played teams last year that couldn't afford long sleeve gear to wear in cold weather, they had button up shirts under their pads. We played teams that only had two coaches for the entire team. We played teams that traveled hours on school buses because they couldn't afford charter busses. On the flip side, we played teams that looked like a college team with charter buses trailers with their logos on the side and the best of everything.

As for the death comment, that's a bit dramatic don't you think. The big secret is, heat does not kill players. Virtually every player that has died died of a congenital heart defect that they were unaware of. Otherwise there would be multiple deaths every game in Texas. The reason for all the heat restrictions is only due to the fact that if they weren't in place the non-medically trained public would have such a loud outcry it would be deafening. Heat acclamation is important. That is the reason for the acclamation period. What temperature does the majority of Heat stroke occur? 100's, 90's? Nope, the majority occur in the 70's and 80's.

It's not unfair, any player and any team can go to camp. Nothing is free in life, if you want something you have to pay for it. I drive a Chevy, do I get mad because there are people driving BMW's. I can have a BMW if I want it, I just don't want to pay for it.

It's unfair that some teams have 80 players while others have 20. Are we going to stop those teams with 80 players from playing? It's unfair that some teams have fast players, while others don't. Are we going to stop the fast kids from playing?

It's only cheating if you aren't allowed to do it. Players are allowed to go to Football Camps. All players are allowed to go to camp. Some do, some don't. So be it.

A camp like the one Madison Southern I think has to be publicized like the Hawg Heaven Camp. You are also. to allowed to coach your team in drills unless you have kids from other teams there involved.

Maybe the KHSAA needs to be more clear on what the teams can and can't do and when.

I'm sure nothing will be done this year to anyone.

We need to hold our horses... I know at least 3 of the teams named in this thread were at a college camp, with college coaches organizing and supervising the drills - though team coaches were participating, as well. We can argue about whether the loophole should exist, but it does exist... Can't punish people if no rules have been broken.

Rules have been broken. No coaches can be with players and participate in these college camps before the contact period.

A rule SOME coaches get away with cause they are on a committee.

If KHSAA went to Jabez KY right now, rules would be broken. Lol! Let's just say they get more scrimmages then some schools do.

I don't understand what you are asking? Get to do what?

Honest question for you. Have you reported the violations you allege to the KHSAA?

Been to Jabez and both times I was there no team scrimmages took place. I think KHSAA has eliminated this by allowing teams to have multi- team scrimmages!

Not about Jabez. Another coach I know has and he was told not to go there. So, seems to me he was told not to bring it up.

Again, No consequences for some, but those same coaches are like politicians. Talk about honor and integrity and then you see them in the police report of the newspaper

Honestly all of these threads are what's wrong with the country. Unfair advantage? Are you kidding me? Life is an unfair advantage. You have to learn to overcome obstacles to become a better player and person. To call out all of those teams in the first post is busch league. The teams were at camps and you're on here saying they're breaking rules. Unreal.
