July 31, 201412 yr If Smyly and Franklin is all that the Rays got for Price then I'm glad Walt didn't trade Cueto or Latos. That's a terrible haul IMO.
July 31, 201412 yr I've never been a fan at all of Sabermetrics, but Billy Beane has the A's in contention every year. I pick his brain, and hire his top assistant. What could it hurt? Another 24 years without advancing to a World Series? What's the guy Jonah Hill's character from Moneyball doing these days lol jk
July 31, 201412 yr Author Haven't seen that anywhere. ESPN guys are saying it was a fake rumor that Zobrist was traded.
July 31, 201412 yr Really just dumbfounded as to how you don't at least trade Broxton or something. I mean this deadline was MLB talent for MLB talent... Just really don't understand how you couldn't find anything out there.
July 31, 201412 yr Author ^That link is saying the Pirates were the third team in the deal. It was clearly Seattle, Detroit, and Tampa. I think that guy fell for a fake account.
July 31, 201412 yr Who is going to replace him? Whomever the Reds acquired in the trade, Cingrani, Holmberg, anybody in AAA.
July 31, 201412 yr Whomever the Reds acquired in the trade' date=' Cingrani, Holmberg, anybody in AAA.[/quote'] You said you didn't see him in rotation next year. Neither of those guys would replace him if Simon is with Reds next year.
July 31, 201412 yr Author ^I would imagine Stephenson could be a potential option. Or Iglesias, or Cingrani (if he can get his head right).

July 31, 201412 yr Author Not familiar with Iglesias. Give me a scouting report on him. He's the Cuban kid they just signed last month. Said to be near ML-ready. Was a reliever down there, but signed to be a starter. Making big league money already. He hasn't thrown yet in a game for the Reds, and I haven't really seen much of a scouting report. He has a pretty solid fastball from what I've read. Somewhere in the 94-95 range I believe. A bit on the smaller side, but he's supposedly the real deal.

July 31, 201412 yr Today was the final straw for me. Staying with what they got again is just inexcusable. Either make the necessary moves to go all in or set the team up for the next couple seasons. The only action that wasn't an option IMO was to do nothing. You assume he was allowed to make any moves.
