His D was good. His O was terrible. Its up to him if he wants to be a top player. He's got the tools.

back and forth first half and covcath pours it on in the second half. i really thought Holmes could win this game but it would take a great effort to do so. If Holmes wants to the win the region they need to start playing better team ball. Also Edmondson needs to step up, taking threes from 30 feet, down five isn't helping the team...look for the best shot and then take it. His D is great right now but he needs to stop rushing his shots and relax. If he comes around, Holmes can still win region. By the way, Arrez Henderson had a nice dunk in the first or second quarter in traffic. This kid is something else.

 

Covcath played amazing tonight. The refs (not complaining, the better team won) were a little shaky tonight. Duran's 4th and 5th fouls were definetly not fouls and anytime a Holmes player went to the rim, an obvious foul would not be called. Edmondson got pushed into the covcath student section on a 3 and there was no call..very poor officiating game caused this game to get out of reach like this..but like i said, the better team won, bottom line.

 

look to see these two teams again in round 3 of the regionals...but we all know what happened last time everyone predicted that...Holmes definetly has the easier road and it will be interesting to see how they rebound from a big loss like this....kinda feel sorry for dixie

I wouldnt agree with that...Jefferson caused him to get into foul trouble and thats why they made a defensive switch. IMO these two are about the same, cant pick one over the other...DJ dominates with his athleticism and vision but timmy t is more fundamental

Here are my arguments to that and I've spoke to many people who agree with me. Timmy is way more fundamentally sound and also has alot more to offer on the offensive side of the ball. He also can guard just about anyone and cause all kinds of problems in the back court for the opposing guards, especially during a press.

 

To me it seems Duran is stuck on level 8 of a 10 level game. He was just as good last year, maybe better, than he is playing this year. I will give Duran some credit that he deserves from me though. He has matured a lot. He still crys to the refs more than is necessary and it "gets old" as one ref told me after the CCH game. "He draws attention to himself". But I really have noticed a differnce in the way he handles himself compared to this last season and this season. He is alot more mentally mature. I don't think Duran is going to hurt anyone consistantly from the outside like Tim T can.

Your entitled to your opinion but if i recall timmy picked up three quick fould while TRYING to guard jefferson and as far as timmy being more of an offensive threat, i have to disagree....if you were at the game against covcath, you would have saw that duran was getting to the hoop and scoring whenever he wanted...but duran is more of a pass first, score second. If duran wants to take over a game, he can. The reason he seemed much better last year was because he had a 6'6 center in lexie creating screens for him at the top of the key which helped him get to the basket. This year they have no presence like that and he still does the same.

 

To say timmy offers more on the offensive side of the ball and is a better defender, i feel is an over statement. But i respect your opiono and am interested on hearing it. I even agree timmy is more fundamental but duran isn;t far behind and i would say is the better OVERALL (scoring, assists, rebounding) point guard. Duran doesnt lead nky in assists for no reason and averages better than 10 a game but can drop 20 on you if he wants.

Also you must think about this...duran is a junior...timmy is a senior. So the maturity level is a little different.

Couldnt agree anymore...but to say he got shut down? i dont know about that. I cant recall him shooting that many times but i could be wrong..i had a young kid in front of me the whole time standing and jumping around lol

I wouldn't, After the schedule Dixie has played I'm pretty sure their not going to be intimidated or feeling sorry for themselves. In addittion I'm sure their probably happy to be on Holmes side of the bracket, away from Cov Cath and Highlands.

im sure holmes enjoys being on the opposite side of those two as well...much easier road to the finals...but dixie's schedule hasnt been that much of a factor...holmes was just as grueling

It is yet to be seen what benefits Dixie's schedule has had, and I never said Holme's played a week schedule. Just making the point that Dixie has given no reason for people to feel sorry for them because they drew Holmes. Dixie relishes the oppurtunity to overacheive, while Holmes seems to have become content with underacheiving.
