Rodrick Rhodes out at Cordia?

Can anyone confirm?

Hasn't it been almost 3 years to the day since he was hired?

Maybe he's just thanking everyone for the run so far and everyone is reading more into this than they should.

I'm not privy to any inside info, but it's honestly the first thing I thought of.

Honestly, he should be gone. Much like what happened at Thomas Nelson, the administration backed his play by looking the other way to bring in talent, and he didn't win. With all the backlash they've had to deal with, it's not really worth it. The only thing that's been consistent with his teams, has been that they consistently come up short.

They've come up short to some quality teams. After 3 years I hardly think that is enough reason to let him go.

You're absolutely right. Coming up short against quality teams shouldn't get a coach fired. But the complete circus he's brought to town, along with coming up short (given the talent he brings every year), should.

Agreed. I don't think he had very much to work with early in his tenure there either. I know he had Hudson in Year 1, who eventually went to Hazard and was a real difference maker for them, so I'd imagine that he'd have been even more effective if you put him on last year's Cordia team. Other than Hudson, I'm not even sure what else he had outside of a 7th grade Austin Combs.

Year 2 had some real improvement, especially once Oowahtoah got eligible. Chisolm, Tagaloa, and Nowell are all (at the very least going to be) quality players from what I've seen.

Year 3 had his most complete team, and that was without Ortiz and Chapman for most of the season. I like Keita quite a bit, especially for a kid as young as he is. Cunningham could play for anyone and is going to Samford next season. Add in kids like Catchings, Frimpong, Lucien, Cornett, and an older Combs and you see that the team starts to round out.

They've shown quite a bit of improvement each season, and I don't really see a reason for him to go anywhere as long as he's happy where he's at and the school is happy with him.

I'd imagine that Knott is really going to fall off once Justice, Hall, Christon, etc. graduate, at least for a few years.

Not sure what Perry County Central has (or like Cordia, what they may have from year to year), but losing a kid like Beverley is really going to impact them, especially after losing Johnson in the previous year.

Really unsure of what Hazard will have coming back this year and beyond, but they'll have some big holes to fill with the loss of Hudson and Hollan. I'd imagine Olinger and Whitaker will have to step up.

That's a lot of talent exiting many of the other schools that you won't see, at least to the same extent, at Cordia. I'd imagine that if you are Rhodes, you do what you can to stick around and see how far you can really go once you get things going in Years 4 & 5.

If he shows up at Oneida Baptist Institute, look out. Dorms on campus and very few issues with getting transfers eligible. Talk about building a powerhouse! And without much of the controversy he encountered at Cordia.

However, I'm sure building a basketball power is not OBI's primary focus. And they already have a coach, so my post is merely a hypothetical "what could be" type of scenario.

I get what you're saying...

but I can promise you that Rhodes is just being a drama queen and stirring it up.

It's "been" a good run?

He says it in the middle of summer ball?

I can understand saying something like that as soon as the season is over and it just be a harmless comment...

but if you wait until after the school year is over - you're stirring the pot.

It's the three year anniversary of his hiring. How else should he say it?

What makes you think he's just being a "drama queen" and trying to stir the pot? I'm just asking because you seem to be more familiar with the situation than I am. What does he have to gain by doing what he's doing in making the comments?

If he's staying, I can see how he could have been more clear by saying something like, "it's been a great run so far" or something to that effect, but I also think everyone might be reading into these comments a little too much.

Then why would he say that? Why not just say something acknowledging his 3 year anniversary instead of making a vague post like he did? He's on Facebook so he should know how to make a proper anniversary post. They are on Facebook everyday this time of the year. :lol2:

Put me in the 'where there is smoke there is fire' camp.

I'm not sure it was as vague as we're making it out to be. What isn't vague was his denial in the follow up post. I'm just unsure of what he has to gain by getting that stuff started unless it's just something he does for his own amusement to see how people are hanging on to what he posts to social media.

Which would make people's words true when they call him a drama queen. I'm not convinced he made the post trying to gain anything other than controversy.

Then I'm not sure it's Rhodes who is being a drama queen if people are taking his words and running with them, especially if they know that he's got a habit of doing that just to get a rise out of people. We're just as much about the drama if we are playing into his hands and doing what he wants, no?

Absolutely. I love drama that isn't affecting my life. :lol2:

He created this story though. Not us. If I started a thread on here saying "I want to thank everyone for their support over the years. It's been a great run." Wouldn't people think I was leaving BGP?

Yes they absolutely would. His post clearly implied that he was leaving in my opinion. It might have been unintentional but he also didn't clear that up when asked.

Well, it'd be different with you because you typically don't say things like that.
