Moving to Louisville

Featured Replies

May I ask what school the teaching job is at? Christian Academy-Louisville is right across the street and Eastern is a mile away from Landis Lakes.

I hear Landis Lakes is nice. I am not out in the Middletown/Old English Station area much but have heard good things about it.

As others have said, plenty to do around town. A few keystroke on the computer and you should have plenty of info.

Old English Station

Is that still Louisville out there? My goodness it's amazing where people can live nowadays. :lol2:

I know Randy said you should never listen to me and in truth, he's right, but -- honestly -- any questions you have I'd be happy to answer.

Happy to hear you'll be taking in a Bats game. This city screws stuff up all the time but they did a GREAT job with Louisville Slugger Field. Just a great AAA experience.

I don't have any kids so I don't know how helpful I'll be on that front but there's always something going on around town.

Those people claim they are part of Louisville but I don't know. Maybe we should give them to Shelby or Oldham Co. LOL. Just kidding far East Enders.

I was one of those who had second thoughts on the new stadium, I have eaten my words since.

Same boat here. I have the bar scene down if you want to get your kids started early!!!!! Kidding.

Check out the deal the city has going on right now with quite a few of the attractions for your kids. You can pick up a pass at the Louisville Free Public Library that allows them to experience 19 of Louisville's attractions, including museums, once each at no charge. GREAT DEAL.

I know I've moved, but Louisville owns my heart and I'm happy to help any way I can. Also, unlike the others here, I actually have experience with kid-friendly activities in Louisville. :D

Well, I'll be teaching 8th graders from Myers, but we will be at Waggener HS.

You might fool everyone else but I know you'll be scouting golf courses within 24 hours of your move.

I started that process in March when we learned about the move.

:D

Isn't Meyers the school that is being transformed? Like it used to be an elementary school now will be a Middle School or something like that?

Yes they are trying to shut it down because it had the worst test scores in the state and it was the hardest teaching job in the state. Myers is on the other side of Louisville from Landis Lakes. I live around 10 minutes from Landis Lakes and for any sporting events at Myers or somewhere close to there it takes FOREVER.

I am sure you are familiar with most already....:lol2: This is bittersweet for me, in you moving. I will miss seeing you at the ballgames. I have family that lives in Taylorsville and we go there often. The men would love to set a golf date sometime. Enjoy this new journey in your life.

It is definite on the shut down. New uses for the campus are being explored currently.

I won't be driving to Myers, I'll be driving to Waggener. The Myers 7th and 8th graders will be housed there for at least 2 years while renovation is done at Myers.

With kids that age you definitely want to join the Zoo (and maybe the dual membership with the Science Center)... Don't need to do Ky Kingdom more than once per year with little ones, if at all. Take a ride on the Belle of Louisville.

And you're moving here just in time for the heart of the Catholic parish summer picnic season: the hap-hap-happiest time of the year.

I will be working the Race Horse booth at St. Pius Saturday if you are there that night.
