Eric Cantor is despised at the same level, if not more than John Boehner.

Cantor was considered a conservative a few years ago but I don't think that he had much conservative support as recently as 2012. Boehner has been such a bad Speaker of the House, I suspect that most conservative members would have supported almost anybody but him.

 

Mark Levin, who lives a few miles away from me here in Virginia has been a very vocal critic of Cantor. Matt Drudge posted a long list of links to illegal immigrant news today - a clear effort to influence today's election.

 

I am listening to a replay of this evening's Mark Levin show. I look forward to listening to his reaction to Cantor's loss. It's too bad Lindsey Grahamnesty won today, but the opposition's vote was split six ways.

Here is a really crazy number. Cantor raised $5.4 million. Brat raised less than $500,000.

Brat's numbers are closer to $250,000-$300,000. Regardless, the dude was always facing an uphill battle.

 

Cantor also got significant outside help. NRA spent some money as well as others.

 

Side note: NRA sucks.

Virginia is an open primary state.

 

Anyone can vote for any slate of either party. It will be interesting to see if Cantor was taken out by the Dems.

The challenge now for conservatives is getting Brat elected. The Tea Party sure doesn't want this to become another primary win / general election loss giving away another seat to a Democrat.

Cantor outspent his opponent 25 to 1. Spent more just at steakhouses than his opponent's total spend.
