Isn't everyone going to be there except for the 2 that left the team? Not saying they will win a game in the series I just took it that they were missing practice. Seems like I remember Vinny Zollo having summer school at WKU and that he missed practice time as well.

 

Vinny didn't try out for the team his Sr year. Neither did Robbie Stenzel or Chane B. All declined the invite.

 

Why did Chris McGraw and Trey Edwards leave the team?

1) Need to have the game in April with the rest of the All-Star games. Instead of locking the kids down for a whole week, have a couple weekend mini camps. More and more kids are required to report to college early now and attend summer school. A lot different now than it used to be.

 

2) The guys in college already are going through individuals, weightlifting & conditioning, as well as playing pickup every afternoon. I wouldn't worry too much about them getting up and down the court. What I would worry about is how much they do Friday morning before the game. I know last year Willis and Hawkins were gassed when they got to the game and played horrible Friday night because they had already been through an individual and a weightlifting session before going to the game.

 

3) When Edwards and McGraw didn't show up for the mini camp, my first calls would have been to Bach and Hatton. I don't think there is a 2G on the team.

O'Hearn is still having nightmares about Brent. We all know why Brent wasn't chosen.

Your "conspiracy theory" as to why Bach did not make this team is far from true. With only seven players they dominated the Juniors on Monday night. The addition of Snider, Green, and Johnson will be huge additions once they arrive.

Way to much politics for some very good players!.

Trey Lyles has had Meningitis the last couple of weeks so that may keep him out for the Indiana squad. Going to be a tough road for the Kentucky team either way but it would certainly help their chances.

I was cracking Brent Bach owns Mason County jokes but it was brought to our attention that O'Hearn gets to coach the team but doesn't have any say in who is on the team so that is why Bach isn't on the team.

Won't happen. Indiana would never agree to that, and I don't think it's best for Kentucky to agree either. Kids get 2 All-Star games while school is in session and that's max. That means if a kid gets picked for the McDonald's All-American game, Jordan Brand Classic, and Kentucky-Indiana series, they'd have to miss two of those games.

 

Guess which two probably take precedence?

According to the LH, Ben Roberts, the previous reports are FALSE. Trey's dad now reporting that he did not have Meningitis, but was instead being treated for “extreme dehydration".

 

WKYT, Ch 27, out of Lexington is reporting that the game tonight can be seen on their sister station The CW tonight. That is Ch 14 for us in this area.

The economy has really hit Eastern Kentucky hard. The coal business and loss of jobs have been devastating. If you have a son playing AAU parents have had to spend at least $500 per weekend since the first of April. Add to this driving to Hopkinsville for some practices on Thursday, a whole week in Lexington leading up to the Junior's game, and the fact that the ending of the school year was extended due to a terrible winter.

The fact is these players are supposed to be student athletes and school was still in session.

IMO the honorable thing to do is to not even make yourself available to the team in tryouts. While every factor you mentioned is a good point it is also worth noting that these factors were in play before the team selection process began and should have played into the decision making process of those who tried out and decided not to play after making the team.
