2003 Ryle grad who plays for Valencia in Europe wins the MVP of championship game and then wins MVP of the league to top off a great season! Congrats to JD for his continued success after an outstanding High School and college (Xavier) career! Follow him on twitter @J_Doellman

JD is living the dream over there. Great life he has going.

I had just asked the other day to a buddy of mine if he had heard any recent news about Doellman and if he was still playing overseas. Glad to hear that he is have as much success as he is.

Valencia seems like it would be an awesome place to live.

I work with his dad, and he says, "he as life by the family jewels over there". Definitely has a "sweet gig".

People always joke about guys who "couldn't cut it in the NBA" and "play overseas" like it's some kind of huge failure. I always kind of roll my eyes at those comments considering.

International players in the more reputable programs are paid well, have a good share of living expenses covered, and get a large portion of their income tax free.

JD had offers to come back and try out for a spot on some NBA teams. No guarantee though so he stayed in Europe.

That's awesome, and shows that he must be performing at a high level to even get the offer.

If there are no guarantees, I can certainly see why he wouldn't want to leave something that he has in place.

Glad to see he's doing so well. That 2002-2003 season with Doellman, Neltner and Brock was fun to watch. Some great games in the 9th region between those three.

It's hard to believe it's been 10+ years since they played in high school.
