Well, whatever, just trying to throw out some quick examples. Been about a decade or so since they've been there so thought they were a decent example to include as a small school that generally doesn't have a regular shot of making regional or competing for state and probably would get more out of competing in a true All A small school championship.

If you only allowed teams that truly think they can win state compete in the state tournament, you would have a 50 team tournament, if that.

 

I never said anything about schools truly believing they can win state. But why have some stronger small All A schools (i.e., Beechwood, NCC, LexCath, etc.) compete in a tournament that doesn't really mean all that much to them when it could and should mean more to truly small schools that can't make it to regionals much less have a shot for a state title. I say pick one or the other and the All A tourney will mean a whole lot more to the truly small schools that end up participating in it.

Agreed. From the games I saw, Coach Gray and the Panthers could very easily have made it to regionals this year... Just a few plays away and learning to win close games. I think Ludlow has a shot for sure in the coming seasons.

I think this is a great point. If they are going to have a small school tourney, then I think the small schools should have to choose and not be able to do both.

Great point......That might be called classifying all your sports in KY. like all other 49 states do. I would love to see a classified baseball system.

Haha, agreed... Tough for 1a schools to beat 5a schools... Clearly the best players may be somewhat even, but when you have the numbers, you know a big schools' 6-9 hitters are gonna be better than a smaller schools' 6-9... More often than not anyway.

So now wait. All you guys spend a lot of time making sure the small school guys understand that the all A is not a real tourney. Now you want them to choose, therefore denying those kids that choose not to play achools that out number them by 4-1 the shot at any tourney? Kind of hypocritical if you ask me. Lets not stop there. All catholic schools are omitted, because they play by no boundaries. All county schools with open enrollment are also out.

 

Only answer is classes. Go to 3 in baseball like track. Even 2.

Which tournament are you saying doesn't mean much to small schools?

 

Here is an idea that I think would be fun. Go to two classes in baseball then have the winner of each class play a best of 3 for the overall title.
